have you tried disconnecting the booster and plugging the hose? Do that
before you buy a new one. also, if available, plug a vacume gauge intot he
booster and then step on the brake....the gauge should rise then hold...if
it rises then falls off, it's bad

Thanks for all the suggestions. It seems that some of you were correct.
The power brake booster is leaking - the engine starts running rough when
I apply the brakesa, otherwise it idles properly. Tomorrow morning it
goes in for the new unit and I hope that will take care of the problem. I
guess my concern about it not getting up and going is simply because it is
one heavy car.
I'll let you know the results, thanks. I have to go sop up the spilled
blinker fluid from my carpet before it dries in the hot Las Vegas sun.
