IML: Ring Gear Inspection Cover

After all the discussion about starters and ring gears, there is an interesting photo in the '65 Imperial Convertible auction that just appeared on Ebay.

One of the photos is a strikingly clear picture of what it looks like when that cover is removed. Why it is removed is a good question, but it is a very interesting picture. It illustrates how easy it is to check the condition of the ring gear. The older Torqueflites have a similar cover.
