Re: IML: Autotemp II needed

I found an aluminum bodied servo on a Mercedes-Benz in the local junkyard-cost? $15. I bench tested it and the motor worked, put it on the car and, well there must be other issues, I think my amplifier is fried. I'll probably send the servo and the amplifier off to that place in Tenn. and have them checked out/rebuilt. I've got other fish to fry at the moment, so the Imperial sits comfortably in the garage, waiting for it's day in the sunshine.

My experience of this item, is that if their old and the car is not been used for a long time, the inside dries out, and when you start using the car again, the heat and pressure causes the "black box" to crack. I've tried special glue, but it didn't work very long before it cracked again. I have now bought a used one about a year ago, but it to starting to leak now. I'm think i'm going for the new one in aluminium, but I don't know where to find them. Maybe somone on the list may help me with that?

Yup, looks like a black plastic mushroom with a bunch of pneumatic holes coming out the rear of it. Just a thought, would pouring a layer of super glue or something similar in the base serve to seal up the crack? Has anyone tried this.

Hi Robert!

Are we talking about the unit on the passenger side, besides the engine? With 4 water hoses going into it?

My autotemp II unit blew up, for a 72 Imp. I thought I would take a stab at finding a good (ie functional) used one here. I know about the Mercedes metal ones, I would be interested in a used one of those also. I can't afford the new one, however. Anyone?
