That is strange about the door panels not having any sign of the speakers having been installed - I suspect some previous owner has changed the panels. My 67 Convertible also had the ribbed panels, but I didn't realize 68's did. Can someone else with a 68 convertible with stereo please speak up and tell us how the speakers are mounted (and if the door panels are the metal ribbed type?) On the convertible and Crown Coupe, this area has a ribbed metal plate that runs the length of the door. I suppose this could be called a skuff plate. For whatever reason, the doors in my convertible have no speakers nor holes in the skuff plate to accomodate them.
