Could be heat soak or the balance resistor. Do a voltage drop test on the starter circuit, and check the ohms in both sides of the resistor.

Subject: IML: Hot Starting?? 1967 imperial

Does anyone have any idea on starting problem after the vehicle has been
been running and hot.  Basically, the car has a hard time starting after short trips.. turns over.. cranks.. cranks.. most of the time starts after some work.
Thanks
