Re: IML: New 73 & Auto-Temp #@!!!**!

have you investigated the servo?

The resin in the inlet/outlet body had problems with
being unstable when exposed to heat (funny, hot water
runs through the darned thing).

Every one that I've seen has been cracked. this means
that the water either goes out the bottom and dumps
on the ground (the reason that so many cars have the
heater core bypassed and the heater hoses looped back
into the engine block), OR it means that the crack was
on the top and the water went up into the servo motors
and rotted out the switches and brains.

I am very pessimistic about these units, so take that
into consideration.

Dave Duricy, who seems to be much more patient and
inquisative is a proponent of troubleshooting and
wrangling these things, so that's the other side of
the coin - don't let me get you down if you're a
natural-born puzzle guy.

Inspect for leakage/failure of the maroon resin in the
lower body before investing much more time/energy in
troubleshooting would be my advice.

Sure am glad I live in a very temperate area and don't
need mine, so that's another source of my
unwillingness to try to fix it. If I lived in
Michigan or Tempe, I'd probably feel different.

Lastly, keep in mind that the manual HVAC control
panel for a standard chrysler product from the same
year will interchange exactly IF you have the patience
to do it.

I understand that Kerry Pinkerton did pull that one
off, and is the route that I intend to take some week
when I don't really have anything better to do.

Best wishes on that challenge!!!!
