For rust prevention, there's this goopy stuff that comes in a can - I
can't remember the name but it's something like MD-80 or WD-40, without
being either of those things... I've heard good things about it.
For sound and to a lesser extend heat insulation, there's a product
called Dynamat - it's a soft metal sheet bonded to a layer of thick, sticky
tar-like substance. It works great, but it's kinda pricey.
