You should read Brad Hogg's Pro-Jection saga (or is that a Kerry Pinkerton

There is a new Edelbrock kit, but it's costly.  I believe it's over $2,500 
and will require you to add 340/360 heads to your 318.

There are plenty of people using conversions of Ford or GM efi and there is 
always the Megasquirt-"homemade" efi.

The Megasquirt has plenty of success stories listed, but read Brad's story 
first.  He tried to use a "simple" tbi full kit.  His car is a big block, 
but the procedure would virtually the same for your 318.  Brad is 
mechanically knowledgeable and adaptable and seemed gung ho about adding 
efi, but even Brad couldn't make the relatively simple kit worthwhile.   
Also, I don't think it would help your mpg computer to work because IIRC the 
voltage on the dash was different between efi Imperials and carb cars and 
that is why the carb conversion required a dash change.  Theoretically, the 
mpg read-out should work on your carb conversion.

Good luck whatever you decide to do, but if you try to retrofit efi please 
diary your efforts and share with the site and those of us that want efi, 
but have cold feet.
