RE: IML: Ouality of Materials in Imperials

The materials that went into the structure of the cars that we are talking about were phenomenally strong. Over the years, the best improvements that one can make to an Imperial in that respect would be due to better quality rubber parts. These mainly include front end bushings, hoses, and tires. Body wise some years of Imperials were more prone to corrosion than others, but normally, these problems did not become critical to the structual integrety of the car during its useful life.

I submit that structurally and mechanically, our cars were originally built much better than they needed to be, and wouldn't be any better off using modern materials to make new parts rather than installing OEM parts that are within spec.

>no hard feelings here, it's just the materials avalible today such as better metals could produce better brake drums and hardware. than that of yesterday, everyone would agree with that, im sure. and take clutches in a manual transmission today , some models of cars and trucks use cevlar in the meterials . if used in making brake shoes for older cars you would get a longer lasting brake system. some of these modern meterials are used widly on new sporty type cars and truck's my problem is why can't we get some of that technology to produce factory looking ( brakes , or fuel system) for our old cars.... I hope I explain it right. ?I don't want a corvette style brake or fuel injection on anything of mine unless it be a sports car,, and imperials in no way can be called a sports car,, in just wont look right ,, you know stick out of place . but a more suttle aproach , an imperial wouldn't look right without it's chrome, and a corvette would look silly with tail finns... I hope everyone
