Take a look at the casting number on your block.  It is on the passenger
side 
on the block below the valve cover and head.  If it is a FP31 engine the 
casting # will be 1737929.  I'm not sure of the casting number on the FLP8

'58 318 Fury block.  Let me know what it says.
