This is a picture of some of the special tools that will be needed. At the top is a bearing puller that I use. It will take the bearings off with out damaging the bearing for reuse. Two tools that I didn't include was a beam type inch pound torque wrench and a bearing and seal installing tool set. The tool on the right is used to hold the pinion yoke when tightening the pinion nut. Micrometer or dail calipers for measuring shim thickness and dial indicator for setting ring gear backlach. The big torque wrench should be at least a 150 ft. lb. wrench.
