My 60 Polara

I gave my Dodge Polara the name Amanda. We have been together for over 24 years now. She is far from perfect, yet, a great representation of the Exner era. Over the years she has won many trophies and awards. Our high-light of the Canadian car season, is our 10 hour drive in a convoy of 4-5 fellow FL cars to Carlisle Pa. for Chryslers at Carlisle in July of every year. Perhaps we will see you there?!

1958 Desoto Firesweep. One family car. Purchased in December '09 on Ebay from the original owners great nephew. The nephew's dad received it from his uncle Al in 1972. Uncle Al won the car from a $1.00 raffle ticket and the car was delivered to him from the Desoto dealer in Issaquah Washington in July 1958. When the dad passed away the car went to his son (great nephew) in 2000.

This is Christine's younger and sexier cousin, Tish. From what little I know about the car's history, it was painted with black laquer and given the mild custom treatment about 30 years ago, then for some reason it was neglected and allowed to sit for a couple of decades. Some guy in a motorcycle crashed into the car at some point while it was sitting, causing minor damage to the chrome and body. Water must have been leaking into the trunk, because it had holes in it. The guy I bought the car from fixed the trunk floor the wrong way (a poor fiberglass patch job) I have a brand new trunk floor and extensions that I am going to install. All the other floors, rockers, etc. are solid.

I usually prefer cars that look completely original and stock, but this is one of the rare exceptions where I think the custom looks better than the stock look. I think the person who originally fixed her up had a really good vision for this car, and I am going to stick with that look as I get it back into shape. I know some people like to lower these cars, but I don't really like how that looks. I think it looks perfect the way it sits right now.
