I STARTED TO MAKE ONE OF THESE UNTIL I FOUND MY SNAP-ON TOOL IN ONE OF MY TOOL BOX DRAWERS. IF YOU HAVE ONE OF THE TOOLS OR SOMETHING LIKE IT JUST MODIFY WHAT YOU HAVE. |
IF YOU LOOK CLOSE YOU CAN SEE HOW THE LIP ON THE PIECE OF METAL PUSHES ON THE RETAINER CLIP. THE WHOLE MODIFICATION TOOK ME ABOUT 15 MINUTES. |
SEE HOW THE SMALL OPENING OF THE TOOL IS ALMOST THE EXACT SIZE AS THE HANDLE SHAFT. A PERFECT FIT. |
JUST SLIDE IT BEHIND THE HANDLE WITH THE LIP OF THE ADD-ON PIECE AGAINST THE RETAINER AND TAP THE BOLT WITH A HAMMER AS YOU PUT PRESSURE AGAINST THE HENDLE AND IT POPS RIGHT OFF. THAT'S WHY I LEFT THE BOLT LONG ENOUGH TO HIT. |
I MADE MY TOOL FROM A SNAP-ON A159 DOOR HANDLE TOOL. ALL I DID TO THE TOOL WAS DRILL A 3/16" HOLE HALF WAY BETWEEN THE OPENING AND THE 1/4" HOLE THAT IS ALREADY IN THE TOOL. |
I USED A PIECE OF 1/8" MATERIAL AND BENT A 1/8" LIP IN ONE END. THEN DRILLED A 1/4" HOLE IN IT SO THE LIP LINED UP WITH THE EDGE OF THE OPENING. I USED A CENTER PUNCH TO PUT A DIMPLE IN THE PIECE TO KEEP IT FROM TURNING OR MOVING. THAT'S WHAT THE 3/16" HOLE IS FOR THAT I DRILLED IN THE TOOL. |
