I know that the rear brake lights are interlinked with the rear signals, but this has me confused.
Both rear turn signals illuminate correctly, but only the left brake light illuminates. If the right signal didn't work I'd figure bulb, ground etc. but the signal and running light both work, just no brake on that side. Any suggestions?

Wild a$s guess.

Turn signal switch not making contact with the brake light input in the right turn postion.

Maybe spray some contact cleaner in or look into the guts of the switch.

Yep, the problem lies in your turn signal switch.

I agree with Old Ray and Powerflite: Most likely the turn signal switch.

I has 6 wires going to it and it decides what the priority is, i.e. brake lights or signals. When working correctly, it will direct power to the signal light over the brake light. (The otherside brake light will be on, but the side with the blinker on, the power goes to the signal light filament).

The back of a typical switch:

The part number for the 1957-58 (and maybe 59) signal light switch is 1769 321.

They are available a few places:

https://www.hiltopautoparts.com/product/nos-mopar-turn-signal-switch...

Some come pre-wired, plug and play:

There is no need to pay the stupidly expensive prices that Hiltop or Atlas charge. The setup is the same for all Mopars, 57-9. A used one for a few dollars from a parts car or Big M Auto will work just as well. Ebay is another source. Or you can rebuild the switch yourself, if you are comfortable with that.
