Regular Posts: 73 ![]() ![]() Location: Okielahoma | My frame is rusted in half, will be looking for a replacement, since these are already very scarce, what other vehicles have the same frame as the Dodge 2 door hardtop, I've heard all Dodge models use the same for that year but have no confirmation, also heard the 59 desoto was possibly the same, what about 57-58 Dodge? Plymouth perhaps? Thanks.

I am honestly shocked but it looks like the base door shells for a 1959 Dodge 2 dr hardtop (Special Club Coupe) and convertibles (Convertible Coupes) are the same as those for the 59 Desoto and 59 Chryslers. Different than the 59 Plymouth (smaller wheel base) ![]() Edited by 56D500boy 2023-09-18 11:32 PM (59MoparFrontDoorShellPNs.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]()

The plymouths were different because of the exposed door handles, swb/lwb were still the same dimension wise for all, not sure on imperial thou , pretty well everything on the imperials were imperial only. Expert 5K+ Posts: 9520 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: So. Cal | You should be able to use any Dodge based frame under your car from '57-'59. However, keep in mind that the way the upper control arms mount are completely different in 1959. Also, the rear springs are a different length in 1957, from the later cars. So if you swap to an earlier frame, you'lll need to get the UCA's, and/or rear springs too. To be clear, you can get a frame from any 4dr sedan, 4dr hardtop or 2dr hardtop. The 4dr hardtop may have one mount that is moved slightly, I don't remember for sure, but should be easily modified, regardless. Dodge based cars: '57-'59 Dodge (any model) '57-'59 DeSoto Firesweep '58-'59 Chrysler Windsor If you want to have a frame that is exactly like the one you currently have, you will be limited to 1959. Expert Posts: 1731 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Alaska | The Desoto firesweep 58-59 should have the same frame also since it is actually a Dodge under the skin. Also any frame that was for a 6 cylinder will have different welded in motor mounts which means more work to change.
