Member Posts: 41 Location: Langley BC Canada | I have a 1958 Canadian Chrysler Windsor (looks close to a 58 Saratoga)looking for a few things, I'll probably update this list as I go would like to locate a set of Chrysler 345 poly (spitfire) valve covers I need the fender trim that extends off the hood trim same as on Saratoga (short) or New Yorker (long) either will work if I can get a pair. The side trim (outlining the two tone on the quarters) is missing some clips - anyone got a source, or a couple of spares? Need a dipstick for a 354 - or a reliable length measurement from someone who has one to mark my u-built stick at the correct points. Thanks Julian (Windsor.jpg) Attachments ---------------- Windsor.jpg (74KB - 55 downloads)

You should know that the New Yorker fender trim comes in 2 pieces and is completely different. I might have a set of '57 Windsor/Saratoga trim I could sell you. I'll have to check my stash. Trim clips are readily available from ebay or other sources. If you have access to the backside, use ones with nuts that hold it on. Otherwise use spring clips. You can get new dipsticks from Hot Heads. But I believe you still have to mark it yourself. If I remember correctly, it holds 5 quarts of oil. Just do an oil change with the correct amount and mark it then. If you want a reference length, I can give you one, but it will depend on if you are using the stock height tube or not.

Member Posts: 41 Location: Langley BC Canada | Powerflite, Thanks, so far I have a love hate relationship with this car. It's taken me a year to fit finally a steering pump that wont throw a belt every 2 weeks (long story) I do have valve covers - but call me childish, I want the spitfire ones, mine are just plain. My understanding was that the New Yorker trim was different, but the fender profile was the same, so they could be fitted. I would prefer the Windsor / Saratoga if you have them. The original dipstick had snapped and been jb welded when I got the car then one day the top fell off while driving. I have a c-body stick that fits the stock tube but the marks are incorrect. The issue I have is I'm not sure the (broken) stick that came with the car is even correct because it looks like someone cut it short. I'm guessing the previous owner bodged one up. If you could give me a reference length maybe with distance to add/full that would be great. I know sort of where full is from the last oil change, but I was hoping to have something close to what it should be.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9697 Location: So. Cal | The dipstick on my 354 poly is curved quite a bit, both at the top and as it goes down. However, if you measure along the curve, I get 21.75" from the top of the tube to the top of the "FULL" mark. I didn't know that there ever was a Chrysler poly valve cover that didn't say SPITFIRE on it. Every '55-'58 Chrysler poly I have seen, had that on the valve covers. Were they only plain like that in Canada, or were the plain ones made in a particular factory? My black/white '57 Windsor was made in Detroit, and my copper/beige Windsor was made in Los Angeles. Both of them have the spitfire insignia on them.

Member Posts: 41 Location: Langley BC Canada | So the length to Full is correct. You can see here it looks like someone chewed the end off! (PXL_20230827_034345756.jpg) Attachments ---------------- PXL_20230827_034345756.jpg (99KB - 46 downloads)
