when i bought my New Yorker a new front bumper was included. Today I unpacked it and it is not exactly the same.
The dimensions and shape are identical, but some things are different. Inside are two thick retaining plates that don't belong there. The two inner brackets under the headlights are not there. Next to the license plate, the New Yorker has only one hole each for screws, this one has two each. Also, the holes for the outer brackets under the fenders are missing.
I don't think this is an original bumper but it looks good and is brand new . The chrome is really good. That is why I would like to mount them. I get that mounted so that's not a problem. But I would like to know for which model this bumper was original actually. I could not find anything on the internet, but bumpers are not normally shown from behind.

I had my rear bumper off my 56 Dodge yesterday to clean up the back side (to remove the surface rust) and then paint (Treclad rust paint). During this process I discovered that the part number (PN) of the bumper is stamped into the back. Mine was 1553 931. I checked the PN in the parts pdf that I use and found the PN to be correct for 1955 and 1956 American (120 in wheel base) Dodge rear bumper"face bars". The PN for a 1955-56 Plymouth (and Canadian Plodge) rear bumper is 1553 932. The PN for a 1955-56 Dodge front bumper face bar is 1639 465. A 1955-56 Plymouth (and Canadian Plodge) would be 1634 054.
See what, if anything, you can see on the back of your bumper for a PN and report back.


That suggestion holds true today: See if you can find a PN stamped into the back of your bumper and report back. With the PN we might be able to help you better.

unfortunatly there is nothing else than this date on my last picture ( Negro 04-08-22 ) Thats why i though its an aftermarket bumper.

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island		Roger, my guess is the the front bumper is from a Newport.
The 1960 Windsors and the 1961 Newports has shorter front clip, so the bumpers shapes are the same but the brackets are different.

I don't know, but looking at some photos on the internet, I see the same as my NY. https://www.fusionmotorco.com/vehicles/281/1961-chrysler-newport

And never 2 holes next to the license plate. But maybe mine is not original. The 1961 DeSoto Fireflite also has this bumper - but also with these mounting holes like my NY.
Someone told me that these fat brackets might be from the 300G. But the screw holes are on pictures exactly like on the NY
Today I will remove the brackets and try to mount it on my NY.
Maybe someone else needs these fat mounts.

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island		Roger, the 1960 New Yorker, Saratoga and 300F shares the same subframe/frontclip, the Windsor have the short subframe and special mounting for the front bumper.

In 1961, the New Yorker and the 300G shares the same subframe/frontclip (126 inch wheelbase)
The Windsor and Newport shares the same subframe/frontclip (122 inch wheelbase)

There's also another possibility - the headlights and front bumper was often used on custom cars, so the bumper could have been modified

Location: North Germany		Now I have removed the brackets and mounted the bumper. From which model it is I still do not know. Unlike I thought no bracket fit at all. The bumper itself has the correct dimensions but the two front holes did not fit both for the original holes of the bumper brackets. These I have slightly extended because I did not want to drill more holes. The outer holders under the headlights did not exist, there I made holders and welded them on. The two side holes were also not there, I have drilled new ones. It looks good for now and fits.
But: I am now sure that it is a cheap replica from the Far East. Inside you can see poor machining and the chrome is not good. Although the surface is clean but at some ends the chrome layer comes off like a sticker.
I got the bumper for free. Had I paid money for it I would be very annoyed. Such a quality can not be recommended to buy . Let's see how long it lasts, the original one comes to my store and can be re-chromed. If necessary.
