Regular Posts: 62 ![]() ![]() Location: Springfield, MO | Posted this on the facebook group, but also wanted to post here to help others. This is very similar to how the 1956 Dodge Mirror Disassembles, but the components are slightly different. The picture shows the exploded parts after disassembly. In order for me to remove the pivot threaded shaft from the mirror housing and the mirror tail, I used two heavy screwdrivers to pry the two apart. The shaft is held in place in the tail housing by a rubber bushing. I have not tried to see if I can free the rubber bushing yet. To remove the glass from the mirror housing, there is a lockring. To remove I used a fine pick. The glass is stubborn to remove and took some tries by smacking and picking (likely due to age, dirt and corrosion). Everything else is very straightforward. " I have disassembled many 1959 mirrors, for rechrome and / or change the glass to wide view one. Never encountered a fixing spring. Had to break the glass to take out and replace. This mirror must be another make. - SERGE - | ||
