Regular Posts: 78 Location: Okielahoma | I know about the Fuel injection and that whole story and the column 3 speed, what about the other stuff? Do they all have power windows? Power seat? I know about the front and rear AC option, does anyone know for sure? Same question for 57’, I’ll be looking to buy a nice example in the future, thanks!

Standard items were: Power steering, Torqueflite, Deluxe steering wheel, Heater (I think) It's interesting that to get a 3-speed manual trans on a 300C or D, that you had to un-standarize the torqueflite. Bumper guards & dual rear antennae weren't offered on the 300's. But if a buyer insisted on them, they could probably have been ordered (verified by the IBM card) Another uncommon option on a 300D was cruise control. Dual headlights were an option in '57 (based on where & when it was sold), but it's quite rare to see a 300C with the single headlights.

Expert Posts: 3967 Location: DFW, TX | Standard equipment for the 1957 300C below. The 300D standard equipment wasn't too different, but the compression ratio was increased from 9:1 to 10:1, resulting in 380hp (up from 375 in 1957). There were some minor trim differences such as tail lights and chrome gauge pods. All 300Cs built after Dec 12 1956 had quad headlights - which means only one left the factory with dual headlights. All '58s had the quads. - 150 MPH Speedometer - 3.36:1 Axle Ratio - Air Cleaner, Dual - Air Foam Seat Back - Front - Air Foam Seat Cushion - Front and Rear - Backup Lights - Blue Streak 2.5" White Sidewall Nylon High Speed Tires (Goodyear 9.00 X 14") - Carburetor - Dual 4-barrel - Carpet Floor Covering - Custom License Plate Frame - Rear - Custom Steering Wheel - Directional Signals - Drip Rail Cover Molding - Dual Exhaust (2.25" w/2" tailpipe) - Dual Headlamps - Electric Clock - Firepower 90 degree V- 8, hemispherical combustion chambers, overhead laterally inclined, mechanically actuated valves (solid lifter/adjustable rocker arms) with high speed camshaft - Full- Flow Oil Filter - Genuine Leather Upholstering - Handbrake Warning Signal - Heavy Duty Suspension - Interior Light (remote control) - Luggage Compartment Light - Map Light - Mirror - Inside, Glareproof - Power Brakes - Safety-Cushion Dash Panel - Silent Fan Drive (limits fan speed to 2500 rpm) - Spare Tire Cover - Special Chrome Wheel Covers - TorqueFlite Transmission - Undercoating - Windshield Washers Edited by 57burb 2022-08-16 3:07 PM

Probably more like a dozen or so. According to Wayne Graefen's book, starting serial number for Dec 1956 was 1004, whil starting serial number for Jan 1957 was 1055. So if quad headlights became standard on Dec 12, I'd guess that about 12 escaped with dual headlights. Ron

Location: Under the X in Texas | Notice what seems "missing" in 57Burb's list. Power Steering was NOT standard equipment on the 300Cs. It was made standard for '58 300D. Another interesting note was that if you ordered optional Air Conditioning in 1957, the car did NOT automatically come with tinted glass all around. That too was fixed for '58 so when you ordered AC, tint came with it. The whole industry was "coming of age" so to speak.

Expert Posts: 2315 Location: Eastern Iowa | /ToM Yes, 4 years ago IIRC. Haven't heard a word back from the fellow either. Often wondered how the project was progressing if at all. Car had been vandalized at one point. Edited by finsruskw 2022-08-25 11:30 AM
