Expert 5K+ Posts: 9911 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . Jerry: That image that you are posting shows a case casting number. That is *NOT* the transmission number. The transmission number is stamped on the side rail of the cast-iron Torqueflites, close to where the filler tube enters the case, as shown below. I checked the 1854 220 casting number against the 55-58, 59 and 1960 parts books and nothing comes up. By 1960, the casing number is a 19nn nnn number so I would guess that the 1854 220 relates to a 1958 or early 1959 transmission. BUT again, you need to show us the actual stamped transmission number before we can actually help you. Some examples of casing casting numbers and corresponding TF numbers: Per E.'s 1956 Dodge with 1956 TF (casting number and TF number start with 16) And the casting number of that transmission: My 1957 Windsor TF (now in my 1956 Dodge) (casting number and TF number start with 17, implying 18 = 1958) Edited by 56D500boy 2022-05-11 5:26 PM (DaveFs1736413Case1736544K_TFtransmission_DriversSide_Detail.jpg) (DaveFs1736413Case1736544K_TFtransmission_PassengerSide_Detail.jpg) Attachments ---------------- DaveFs1736413Case1736544K_TFtransmission_DriversSide_Detail.jpg (240KB - 90 downloads) DaveFs1736413Case1736544K_TFtransmission_PassengerSide_Detail.jpg (142KB - 93 downloads)

Elite Veteran Posts: 689 Location: Winston Salem, N.C. | hi thank you,. The transmission # is: v220475230 1970251 Hope someone can tell me what years this trans. was used so I can get a correct neutral safety switch for it. Also, hope someone can tell me what years this transmission was mated to 318A engines. (When I bought my plymouth wagon, there was no engine. Others are of the opinion that my engine is an early 318A.) Jerry Whitfield

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9911 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . Any chance of a photo of this transmission? I just searched the 55-58, 59, 60, 61 and 62 Parts Catalogues and no direct hits on either the 1970 251 or the 2204 752. Came close with the 2204 752 in the 1962 catalogue but still no direct hits. Photos would help.
