Member Posts: 19 Location: Vancouver, British Columbia | Hi, all. Awhile back (last year…2018…2016?) I saw a factory film about the '60 Plymouth. It was not a TV commercial, it was much longer than that, and had Chrysler engineers disucssing various aspects of the car. There was a fair amount of material on the new Slant-6 engine, and heavy concentration on the aerodynamic benefits of the tailfin design in terms of highway stability in crosswinds. I am almost certain it was on YouTube, but despite extensive searching with every set of keywords I can think of, I can't find it now. Can anyone point me at it, please? Thanks kindly.

Member Posts: 40 Location: California | Daniel, I think that this is the YouTube video that you are looking for? It is a 1959 Chrysler Corporation film that describes its technical engineering aspects of its new Slant Six engine, which was first used for its 1960 Chrysler Valiant and also for its 1960 Plymouth and Dodge car models with 6-cylinder engines. The film was narrated by Chrysler Corporation's engineer Jack Charipar, who was in charge of Product Planning. Edited by chryslerman101 2021-09-28 10:29 AM

Member Posts: 19 Location: Vancouver, British Columbia | That is a very good movie—it's in my favourites list—but it's not the one I'm after, which focuses on the '60 Plymouth and goes into great (and fictional) detail about the aerodynamic benefits of its tailfins.

Member Posts: 40 Location: California | Okay, I found another YouTube 1960 Plymouth promotional Dealer film that describes and shows the aerodynamic benefits of the tailfin's design for its new 1960 Plymouth car models. And the film also "briefly" mentions its new 30-D Economy Six engine, which is Chrysler Corporation's newly developed Slant Six engine.

Member Posts: 19 Location: Vancouver, British Columbia | Another terrific find, chryslerman101, thanks for spotting it and squawking about it here. But…still not the one I'm after, which was specifically and exclusively about the '60 Plymouth. (and I apologise for my delay in speaking up).

It helps if you have a scanner and the scanner is big enough to fit the Ross Roy pages onto for scanning. And then you need a way to process the images so they are less than 250 kB (1024 x 768 has worked well for me). I did the Ross Roy 1956 Dodge book, section by section, scanning and saving and processing the files in separate digital file folders first. Then I up loaded them one section at a time to a thread that I started called "1956 Dodge Data Book - In Sections" http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=68637&... Each section was a new post in the thread. It's a lot of work, but I thought that it was worth it to me (and other 56 Dodge owners). Good luck. Edited by 56D500boy 2022-01-31 9:40 PM

I have film slide presentation with accompanying audio on a record. Just not sure how one would go about digitalizing that, though I have seen it done by youtubers...

Cal | Play the cleaned (dish soap, water, on a Kleenex, then dried) record on a record player with the audio jacks going into an adapter to plug into your computer microphone jack. Use an appropriate audio capture software like CoolEdit (you can use the built-in Windows recorder, but it has an annoying time limit and hard to set the power level correctly). Scan the slides with a slide scanner, then use video editing software to put the audio & scans together into a video and save as an mp4.
