Expert Posts: 1267 Location: San Antonio TX | Call me a heretic, but I kinda like what he did with the front end. The same basic 'Googie' motif of the original is there, but the grille has been simplified and headlights recessed slightly. Even the hood scoop has been done in a way that looks like it could have been from the factory. It almost looks like an early prototype of the 60 bodystyle. The only thing that really bugs me is that gap between the front fenders and the bumper; that grille insert should wrap around with the rest of the bumper like the original to eliminate that gap. Looks like the rest of the sheet metal was kept as is aside from the shaved door handles and sunroof. Not a fan of the sunroof. https://merced.craigslist.org/cto/d/1960-dodge-custom/6481912634.html Edited by drosera88 2018-02-02 2:37 PM

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7414 Location: northern germany | it looks nice and clean, but think it would look better with a 60 plymouth bumper guard. like the tunneled headlights. don't like the shaved doors and sunroof. needs some sort of simple, clean sidetrim, better paint and of course wwws. imo overall it isn't any improvement over a stock 60 dodge, as these came pretty perfect from the factory.

Yeah the 60 Plymouth bumper gaurd would actually look pretty good on that instead of the insert. Maybe get a Matador/Polara grille and modify it to fit the shape of modified front end that this thing has.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7414 Location: northern germany | yes. and you are right about the (t-bird?) hood scoop, looks so natural as if if was born there. a car should have a proudly displayed designations and the 61 dodge letters have a very googie design and should be placed, symmetrical, full width, on the hood of this car. too bad about the hole in the roof, otherwise a nice car. i always liked the 60 sedan roofline and wonder if these could be converted into a hardtop. that would look even better.

That's a really good question. I was always under the assumption that the roofs were the same on the 4 door hard tops and sedans were the same minus the post. I always thought that the main difference was the thick window frames that the sedan doors have and the different window mechanism that the rear doors on hard tops have. Does anyone know for sure about this? I've always tossed around the idea of making a 2 door hardtop 60 Plymouth/Dodge wagon, and if the dimensions of the door openings are the same on hardtops and sedans, that would make things a whole lot easier! I know you could always just weld the rear door shut on a 4 door hard top wagon, but that'd be a huge mistake considering how rare the hardtop Dodge/Plymouth wagons are.
