| Hi thanks for tuning in!
I have a 61 Polara 2dr .....361 push button auto with a seized engine
I also have a 62 Chrysler 300 4dr hardtop......383 pushbutton auto that rides just great
.....ive found a 62 Newport 'sedan' with a running engine and trans!! ...to use as a donor car
I'm thinking I can use the engine and trans for my 61 and maybe other drivetrain parts?
...obviously there are spares for my 62 but my questions of uncertainty are whether I can
1) use the engine and trans from the donor car in my 61? any other drivetrain parts I can use?
2) does anyone know if the glass front and rear on a 62 sedan is the same as a 62 hardtop?
.....I know from experience with fuseys it usually goes that 2drs and hardtops share front and rear glass
and the sedans are different
Any other ideas anyone might have much appreciated!
Thankyou for your help

Location: Peoples Republic of Oregon | MaMopar changed the design of the crankshaft flange for the 1962 so you cannot use a 62 engine with a 61 trans but you could swap engine and trans as a unit. |

The '62 Chrysler engine/trans is a good candidate for the swap because the trans still has the tail-mounted parking brake (last year for that).
The engine will mount like the original but you'll have to fabricate a transmission mount and drive shaft. The '61 pushbutton cable will hook right up to the '62 trans. |

Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | Basically, the whole 1962 Chrysler is a re-worked 1961 Polara - the rear quarter panels of the 61 Polara got re-worked to remove the backward fins, but kept the 1961 Polara deck lid, sheet metal between the lid and rear bumper, and the 61 Polara rear bumper - all on the 1962 Chrysler. Of course the front end got 1961 Chrysler sheet metal to finish it off. That also means that the 1962 Dodge Custom 880 is just a re-worked 1961 Polara complete with the 61 Dodge front clip instead of the Chrysler front clip. Confused yet? ;-)
