Veteran Posts: 169 Location: Cochrane, Alberta | Will be sourcing some replacement panels for my new 58 4 door chrysler; likely inner and outer rockers and front floor pans. I'm curious what manufacturer you guys recommend that make body panels for this vintage of Mopar?

These aren't 57 chevy vehicles where there are multiple suppliers that you can literally put an entire new car together with aftermarket stuff. Parts cars and every now and then ebay has guys that reproduce some panels and floors. Rockers and floors are more common than body panels.

The Classic to Current floor panels are *ok* as patch panels, but don't expect to replace a whole floor with them.

Regular Posts: 98 | Have you tried RCar or Black Car LLC? I got decent panels from both for my 56 Plymouth.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 5006 | Black car doesn't carry anything for the 57-59 but give them a call again. For rockers, I can get you Schotts directly since I just realized they are in town. DO NOT GET C&C outer rockers!! they are absolute junk, they are bent wrong... the bend does not continue correctly. The C&C inner rockers are way to thin... I am going to schotts again this week to see if they can simply fab up inner rockers and maybe lower quarters/trunk drops. They are a big operation. Hundreds and hundreds of bin of all kinds of small patches. Only one lady taking orders though and she was at lunch, some guy just said "you paid right?" and handed me a rocker panel. I noticed what must have been 50 2 door hardtop left sides for dodge/Chrysler/Desoto in one bin, old wooden bins probably 50 years old. I would think this is "it" for supply. For inner rockers its just two bends, you can pretty much make those yourself or have any shop do it. You will also need the double bend area up top if you don't reuse it (the part that is at the bottom of the door opening aka the door sill). Its very simple and I made it with my brake I got from harbor freight. The inner rocker has a slight taper to it, the door sill is straight.

Member Posts: 14 Location: Columbia South Carolina | Has anyone ever bought rockers from seller scopan23 on eBay? I need inner & outter for my '59 Saratoga 4 door. I think I'm safe getting the floors from C2C since the center of my floor is still good. I can probably patch the rest in. Thanks

Expert 5K+ Posts: 5006 | Floors might be okay, C2C will have a black Friday with 30% off soon but they are thinner than stock. you should show a pic of your floor. Never buy outers from C2C, Get the schott outer rockers. inner rockers are okay and usable but realize you inner rockers are just two bends. I think scopan is just selling c2c outer rockers. You want schotts, seriously... they have the bends on the end and door panel mounts. have a flat bent piece is WAY more work than having the end stamped correctly and helps with lining it up immensely. I think I can get the 4 door outer rocker with the ends stamped or at least one end stamped like so. (schott.jpg) Attachments ---------------- schott.jpg (24KB - 203 downloads)

Expert 5K+ Posts: 5006 | those are hanging pretty low, you need inners and outers, and maybe if your floor only needs a "foot" to the outside, I would think you could make it yourself. Get the C2C inners or make some, get the schott outers definatley

Member Posts: 14 Location: Columbia South Carolina | There was roofing tin wedged under the floor and against where the rockers used to be when I got it. It was originally from Pennsylvania so there are some lower body issues. This is my first early Mopar so can someone tell me where the floor braces mount? Thanks for the information and sorry if I hijacked the thread..lol

Expert 5K+ Posts: 5006 | oh yeah... whoever stuck the roof there may have taken these out. Where the seat attaches there is this piece underneath https://www.ebay.com/itm/Floor-bracket-Dodge-Plymoth-Chrysler-DeSoto... they are from finland so shipping is pretty high. If you get over 500$ you get free shipping so if you buy a bunch of braces your better off. Maybe talk to Big M to see if he has any cut up floor pans or maybe just braces? if you not going to 100% original you could make something similar or grab something off a unibody car with a plasma cutter or a torch at a junkyard. This is the ebay seller, you can probably save a little ordering directly. http://www.blocket.se/vi/40709229.htm I mean many old cars have kind of usable brackets underneath. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sherman-735-45BL-Floor-Bracket-Chevrolet-Be... are you looking for an original restoration? or just to get a floor in it? I lucked out and all my braces were good in my floorpan. ford floor braces are similar, but originals are only aren't that much more. These are for a 58 ford https://www.ebay.com/itm/Floor-Brace-Rear-Right-Or-Left-Ford-49-2949... same part cheaper https://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_mercury_late/floor-brace-rear-rig...

Member Posts: 14 Location: Columbia South Carolina | I just want to get a solid floor in. They don't have to be originals just do the job. Do the braces mount under the floor on top of the frame body mounts? I can kind of see the remains of one on the driver's side. Any pictures would be helpful. I'm a visual learner.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 5006 | there is a big brace in the front and it connects to the kick panel, the inner rocker is usually gone there. there is a brace integrated with that, there is that rectangular "hanging" brace that the floor sinks down in. and there is one in the middle. there is also the trunk gas tank braces. Many people make their own. the sit against the inner rocker and stiffen the floor. Your inner rocker is the guide for everything, your upper floor sits on the lip of it and the braces sit against it.
