Elite Veteran Posts: 854 | Does anybody have a 1958 Canadian parts book or know off hand if the lower front fender side mouldings are used on anything other than the 1958 Dodge Mayfairs ? Thanks

Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | Unfortunately, the lower front mouldings on the Mayfair were not shared by Plymouth as the front wheel opening is different on the Dodge. The only other model that uses that trim is the export DeSoto Diplomat Custom as it uses the Dodge / DeSoto Firesweep front end sheet metal. The lower moulding is part number 1624 792 (R) 1624 793 (L) on the Belvedere while the Mayfair is 1686 818 (R) and 1686 819 (L). Upper moulding on all is 1624 760 (R) and 1624 761 (L). The only good thing is that all Mayfair models use the same front fender trim regardless of body style.

Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | The "Mayfair" nameplate was part number 1686 820 and fit both sides of the car. The rear quarter mouldings - Upper extension moulding (to top of fin) - Rt - 1835 402 Lt - 1835 403 Upper extension moulding cap (2) - 1834 970 Upper moulding (2) - 1835 400 Lower moulding - Rt - 1833 992 Lt - 1833 993 That's all the Mayfair had on the rear quarter panel.

Elite Veteran Posts: 1141 Location: Blackpool, United Kingdom. | Is this moulding not the same as a 58 Desoto?

| ||
Elite Veteran Posts: 854 | That's what I was wondering ,it looks like the same shape ,but I don't know about the profile .I think it is different because Bill supplied the part numbers and it is specific to the Mayfairs .

Elite Veteran Posts: 1141 Location: Blackpool, United Kingdom. | If anything I would have thought it to be a bit shorter due to the wheelbase, but might be a option to get one of those and shorten it?

Elite Veteran Posts: 854 | Yes that is a good thought ,I am just not farmiliar with the profile of the Desoto moulding If it would match the 58 Belvedere /Mayfair Door and Quarter Moulding .

If the lower moulding is the same profile as Plymouth, just use a normal 57/58 Plymouth lower fender trim and shorten that one,

Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | The DeSoto moulding is not the same as the Mayfair. The Firesweep and Diplomat use front fenders similar to the Kingsway / Cdn Dodge but the side trim is different. The space between the upper and lower mouldings is wider on the Dodge. However, looking at the 1958 Mayfair and the 1957 Mayfair side trim, the front fender lower mouldings look very similar. Checked the parts book and, yes, the lower moulding on the 1957 and 1958 Mayfairs are the same.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 494 Location: Alberta | Can you post a close up picture of your fender with the piece required so that I know for sure which piece it is that you require I'm surprised that the cars didn't have them on or at least the green one I must have missed that when I was looking at them a couple years back. That being said I'll keep an eye out for a 58 Mayfair for you as I'm gathering pieces for my 57 Mayfair
