Is this really a true cross ram car? Hard to tell if the cut outs in the inner fenders are there. I can see that the small exhaust pipe is missing on the driver´s side.

Don´t know how to get the link so you can click on it....

Easy enough to check in Darrell Davis's book The 1960 Dodge D-500 Guide if we had the Vin#

Anyone who starts out a listing with 'What we have here....' can't possibly be truthful. I assume he was wearing a plaid jacket when he typed that....

This car came out of WA state, and was sold to this seller by a good friend of mine. It is NOT a D500, which we all have figured out by now. Just don't understand how someone can slap on a D500 emblem, some crossrams, a '1 of 32' claim, and wallah, we now have here a D500. The washboards were added on from a 60 Polara sedan that my buddy and I spent an entire day pulling off of a riverbank.

He directly lied to me and said the crossrams have been on since new, and he got the car from the original owner. I asked him why did the crossrams looked like they just came out of a glass bead machine. He said they all look like that after aging ...... what A lying piece of crap ???? He also said he had a $27000.00 from Swede but didn't want it to go out of the states ...

He said the title was NOT in his name...

He wanted the payment to be wired into his "wife's account", who has a different name

When asked for pics of the inner fender, no response given

My advice: Do not buy anything from this person

Here's the car prior to washboards and becoming a D500. Notice rust stain on rocker between the doors and the surface rust spot to the left of the left fender top ornament. Same car. My friend was the third owner I believe, so there's no way this seller 'bought it from the original owner'. If anyone remembers, in 2014 someone on this forum posted a Craigslist link for three or four 60 Dodges - three Darts and a 4 door hardtop Polara. The listing was in the WA state area. This is that car. I don't know why my photo had to be resized so small where the others above are not, but you can still tell it's the same car.

Here's the CL ad where my buddy bought the Polara. Second photo, you can see it clearly. I know I'm beating a dead mule here, but if that clown seller thinks buyers out there are that stupid to not know how to do a little research, especially on such a rare car as a Polara D500, he's an idiot.

Moral of the story, folks: Do not try to pass off a 60 Polara as a D500 when it is not. You will be proven a liar in 5 minutes from one of several people on this forum. One of the easiest cars to disprove.

He doesn't have to be an idiot to think people won't do research. It happens all the time.

I can't even tell if it is a 4dr or not. Can you email me the original photo and I will modify it to post it up bigger?

You can tell it's a 4dr by the shape of the roofline and rear door windows.

Wonder if the new owner/winner will work it out that's it's not.. They are also bidding on another Dodge, Oldsmobile and a Plymouth. Doesn't give the information on what modelled cars..

So what would a real D500 4-door hardtop go for in that condition? It's obviously a high price for a non-D500 car. Even if you sold off the ram setup for a $2-3000.

This ram set (conversion) is missing parts on this car. It looks like there are no exhaust manifolds. The heat riser elbow is missing on the drivers side and various other items. If your going to fake a car it should at least be complete. No ram exhaust manifolds and no inner fender wells. Also the correct trans dip stick tube isn't there either. If your talking value of the parts separated from the car I think 2-3000 is to much for this incomplete set up. If anyone has noticed these partial set ups have been going down in price lately

I remember calling on this car a couple of years ago, it had sold already and only the Darts were left.

It`s too bad these cars are going from one owner to the next for the sole purpose of making money on them,
instead of going to someone who likes and drives them.

He was registered with the site at one time, he appears to be bad news.

How do you make the connection between them? It is a different phone number and name. But the fact that he is requiring a wire transfer for payment is a bad sign. If I were to purchase the car, I would go in person, check it out and pay for it at that time. You are under no obligation to purchase a car if you feel it wasn't represented fairly on the auction.

So it supposedly "sold" for $14,900. So I guess the rational thing is to relist with a price of $23,000. Wait... What?

Everyone should report the listing for improper payment requirements. This guy sounds like bad news and they'll just keep trying till they get someone who doesn't do their homework.

Why not send the seller a link to this thread? Let him know he is a known fraud in the community most likely to purchase a 1960 Polara of any type?

So his entire description is nothing but lies. That's interesting. No two cars will have rust and wear in exactly the same shape in exactly the same spots. That's clearly the same car that apparently this guy bought, installed the d500 emblem, rams, and rear chrome trim to in order to scam another buyer. SAD. He also has a very high option "super d500" 1959 dodge wagon that I would hope a buyer would make him prove as well before paying anything. I'd bet it's a fraud as well.
