The way this kind of thing strikes home...

The surviving woman, the one with broken leg, broken arm, broken ankle, 14 broken ribs and broken knee is the mother of my children. My son has flown from Indiana to be with her, she's off the critical list now, but still in intensive care.

She faces many months of recovery and perhaps years of rehabilitation... all without the husband she lost in the crash.

As a result of this, four children, not hers, are now fatherless. There will be bunfights over inheritances, there will be court cases and insurance issues and the driver of the other vehicle will cop a manslaughter or culpable driving charge.

My son tells me that removing the roof was no issue after the crash as they worked to get Jacquie out. Note that the front of the Hyundai is simply not there.

No fairy tales here...

Man Ray,That`s too bad! I can`t belive the tragedy thats going on in the world RIGHT NOW. We have another hurricane comming our way now...I sure hope all goes well for you and your kids! That is devistating. She must be a very strong spirit to take that kind of punishment and pull through. My prayers are with you and yours. It`s always sad when folks lives are ripped apart by such trauma. WOW! Take care now,mike-bigfin..

Ray

I can't say anything more than I will put out a broadcast for a prayer vigil and add her to my list.  Not sure how she is related to you, I am assuming.  But for your childrens sake,

I share your sorrow and will be right here if you need me.

Maybe we ought to start a new thread on this one?

She hasn't been 'related' to me in any way for over twenty years...

There's been a lot of bitterness displayed towards me and my present wife, but thankfully there've only been about four occasions I've seen her since I got the kids and the house back in 1986. But she's still the mother of those kids, she's still an important part of a lot of good memories I have our our 18 years together. And she's still a human being.

My son would be back in the US now... probably between LA and Chicago on his way back to Bloomington Indiana.

And he's sent me this scan from the newspaper...

Talk about these modern little cars being chewed up in crashes... have a look at this Hyundai!
