Awesome car. A 300F has always been my dream car, especially in black.

I looked at one for sale back in 1979 in the Pittsburgh area. The seller wanted $900 which I didn't have at the time and it was really badly rusted anyways. How times have changed.

One of these days I'll own one.

I paid $500 for a rusted out one in 1989, that had to be the bottom of the market. It's paying off now as I've been using the parts on my new one.

I didn't think I'd ever be able to get one but it just worked out. So keep the dream alive!

This is the building where my 300F was sold new from. Roy Burnett Motors, Inc. at 220 N.W. Broadway, Portland, Oregon. Burnett was a Desoto/Plymouth dealer in Portland for decades and got Chrysler and Imperial in late 1959 just in time for the 1960 model year. The building is still there and is now the headquarters for the Pendelton Woolen Mills company. Next time I'm in Portland I'll have to go there.

I've probably walked by that building on one of my trips to Portland and not paid it much attention. A block down the street at 716 NW Davis Street is the DeSoto Building. There is a DeSoto logo above the doors on Davis Street and the cornice at the top of the building on the corner of Broadway and Davis has an automotive logo for the Overland Automobile as this was originally the Overland building. On the back of the building when viewed from Couch Street you can see a DeSoto and Plymouth sign as well as a large Hernando DeSoto head graphic. There is an Overland logo on the top of the elevator tower that can be seen from the corner of NW Davis and NW 8th. The logo is a restoration as it had been overpainted with a "Used Cars" sign at one point. Interestingly I've not been able to find any actual connection to this building to DeSoto or Plymouth. I have noticed this building before in my travels because of the DeSoto logo.

This area of the city was where the automotive firms started out in Portland.

Really cool! Thanks for sharing - more than likely one of a kind - never saw anything like this before.

Great story Nick, I also talked to the owner of my 61 New Yorker, he also gave me some pictures of the car back in the day. I guess that is pretty rare, theses old folks are always gone...

Yes, I've been very lucky with this car. I'm still trying to get in touch with the second owner who bought it in 1965. The guy I bought the car from is friends with his niece.

When I was hunting for another forward look after mine got burned the '60 Chrysler was on my list. I will go to pure gas website to locate fuel stations that have 100% pure gas but I keep lucas ethanol treatment in my forward look in case I need it
http://www.pure-gas.org/ There are only 18 pure gas stations I do not know which 1 is close to you but if some one has a petition started to get the ethanol out of the fuel I sure as hell would sign it
