I am fitting a factory radio in place of the dealers radio into my '61 Newport.
When fitted and butted up tight, I find that I have a slight gap right around between the front of the dial face and the back of the panel.
Noticeable if looking at it from an angle.
Is this normal?

Anyway, in '60, the chrome bezel around the radio and clock was one piece and the radio front and the clock had their own bezels. Starting in '61, the chrome bezel was redesigned to have the radio front bezel and the clock bezel integrated as one unit. That meant that the radio front and (?) clock bezel in '61 - '62 was not chromed and the sharp profile was machined down (or cast changed).
Do you have the proper radio for '61?
If so, is the front bezel chromed? - It should not be chromed.
That said, I have a '61 bezel in my dash with a '60 radio and clock behind it and the difference is not noticable if you don't really scrutinize it. |

No chrome on the radio.
The glass does not sit hard up against the back of the panel giving me a slight gap between the two.
Pic's are a bit difficult as I don't think it will show up.
Maybe I am just being picky?
