Expert 5K+ Posts: 8443 Location: Perth Australia | Unfortunately (If you read all the other posts about SMS), you will find this is par for the coarse for them They have a virtual monopoly on original fabrics or reproductions of them, so basically have you over a barrel You either deal with them and wait until they are good and ready to supply what you have paid for, or you try and find it somewhere else (sometimes you might get lucky), get non original materials (what I did) or put up with how it is It appears that the bulk of the time they eventually come through, but you have to plan way way way ahead (I think 3 or 4 years was the longest I have heard of, but not sure there)

Veteran Posts: 113 Location: Washington State, the wet side | I ordered door panels in August, was quoted 3 months and I am still waiting. I also ordered seat fabric and vinyl that was supposed to be in stock. Can not reach them by phone and multiple my e-mail request for an update are still unanswered. In the meantime my car is just sitting with interior removed It is very sad that suppliers like this don't have any customer service and/or respect for its clients. Is there anyone close to their place of business Canby OR that could pay them a visit on my behalf ?? I'm about ready myself to make the 4 hour trip down there if I don't get answers.

Expert Posts: 2519 Location: central Illinois | My vinyl and fabrics took 4 months, was also promised door panels. After repeated emails and calls I got them 8 months after ordered. They're very nice but the hoops to jump thru is crazy. Edited by b5rt 2017-02-01 12:01 PM

Expert Posts: 3887 Location: Northen Virginia | Guys you know how's the deal; with SMS, Desoto george lenses and others be patient, you may have your stuff in a couple of years. Sms tried that stunt with me, a month after the promised delivery date deadline was past, i just made my claim with my CC and got my money back. SMS called me complaining that the pkg was in the way, the material was already cut bla bla ba...I'm a bad f**k customer f**k you bad customer... and others bad words coming from the owner over the phone... the package was never delivered to my address so it was all a lie...

Expert Posts: 1316 Location: Belgium, 40 miles south of Brussels | I ordered my door panels, quarter panels, vinyl and fabric for my '58 Plymouth at SMS a few years back. They send you several samples, and then you choose. All went very well, and I received everything a few months after my order. The door and quarter panels were quite striking (see pic). But they did send me a roll of white vinyl for the seats that was not the one I choose : right color, so-so pattern but too thin. So I emailed them, and they told me to keep the roll, they sent me another one : right pattern, wrong color (the white was off), and still too thin. Another round of email, they told me to send back the sample I choose in the first place, and keep the second roll. At last, the third time was the right one. Since then I have 2 large rolls of white vinyl, plus all that's left of the 3rd one ! I could make easily 3 or 4 cars with what I have I thought that even if I went through this problem, the customer service was quite good. I paid nothing for the additional rolls and their shipment. Veteran Posts: 110 Location: Falcon, CO | I have had mixed success with SMS. I ordered fabric for my 1957 Dodge Coronet 2 Door HT, and it came within a few weeks and was right. However, they did not send enough material and then took 4 weeks to send additional material (at their expense) while my car sat in the upholstery shop taking up their space. My car has the sport (Custom Coronet) interior, so I had to send them one side of the door panels so that they could match it. I paid them 50% well in advance and sent the panels in early December. I heard nothing until I sent them an e-mail on May 9, and I was told that it would be "a few more weeks". I kept e-mailing them and asking politely for status every two weeks until last Friday (July 28, more than a few weeks). On Friday I sent them a photo of my finished car interior missing the door panels (see photo below; the seats were covered with a blanket, but they have been done for a while). Lo and behold, I had a phone message today (Monday) that the panels were finished. I paid the balance and was told that they will ship tomorrow (Tuesday). As long as the panels ship when promised and are correct I'll have to give them a C+. I could not get anyone else to match the three horizontal mylar strips on each panel, so I had no other choice of vendors. And I would have to say that if the door panels match the 60 year old originals, it will have been worth the wait, even if a few weeks turned into a few months. Don H.
