Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13066 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | It should most probably be mounted in under LH the front fender, same as the Chryslers. Check for the mounting holes just back of the headlight pots. | ||

Expert Posts: 1493 Location: Jamaica Plain, MA | In early FL cars, they are almost always on the LH fender welll, close to the booster unless there were rams or auto-pilot. Later-- by 60 they were often under the battery tray. You can look at pics of engine compartments using google image search and find the one closest to your engine bay setup. I've seen a lot of 1960 MoPars with these on the fender well, but I've never seen a 60 Plymouth where it was anywhere other than under the battery tray. It technically doesn't matter as long as there is space., but, you probably want to be correct. On the 60 Plymouth, the washer bag was usually where the vacuum tank used to be, between the voltage regulator and booster. | ||

Member Posts: 33 | The inner fender for the driver side should be at my shop in a couple of days. When it arrives I'll study the area under the battery tray and see if any of the holes match the studs on the tank. Thanks again for all the info. | ||

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8445 Location: Perth Australia | Its under the battery on my phoenix and my fury has the exact same holes (that was manual braked though) The 2 studs that are on the arms bolt through the inner guard and the small one at the top goes onto the engine edge of the battery tray. There should be a slot on the inner guard under where the tray goes thats there for a drain tube that goes from the battery tray to the wheel side of the inner guard That tube (hose) needs to go on before the tank as its really hard to try and feed it in afterwards Also, as you bolt it together, leave all the bolts loose until you get them all in as you then need to adjust everything to get the battery tray level ect If your using original headlight wiring or want to run the wires as standard, they also go under the battery tray and sort of rest on/in the gap between the tank and the tray The hard thing to get seems to be the check valve for the vacuum system (plastic thing), I never found one, so I have used a brass check valve, but its no where near as neat as the original one | ||

Member Posts: 33 | Thanks, that's very helpful . We are lucky and the original check valve is still with the car and intact. Just have to come up with a fitting for the driver side manifold that has the vacuum bung. | ||

Member Posts: 33 | Inner fender is back and it looks like the tank lives under the battery box. The holes lined up perfectly with the brackets on the tank. | ||
