Location: New Orleans-ish | Anyone have a list of Chrysler dealer codes and Region numbers? It seems that current dealer codes can be found online, but was wondering if there was a way to reference the codes on build sheets considering some of those dealers may be closed. I'm sure Chrysler Historical would have them but I believe you have to prove ownership of a car to get info. |

My car left the factory in L.A. by train. It's life was apparently most time in desert like area (rustfree, underneath, trunk floor and passenger floor virtually with no rust). Happy Motoring! | When I was able to get in to Historical back in the late '70s/early '80s, there'd be a printout stack probably 10" tall of all of the active dealer codes for the previous time period (which I believe was either 1 week or 1 month).
I inquired about how dealer codes were assigned and whether or not they were recycled. The answer I was given is that there was no rhyme or reason, if Joe Blow Motors from Austin Texas was assigned 1111, and the next dealer to be assigned a code was in Black Fly Maine, that dealer became 1112. Also if dealer 1113 in Tumble Weed Arizona went out of business, and a new dealer was opening in Rocky Hill Oregon, that dealer could be given that 1113 code or another entirely different code.
Also if Hometown Motors in KC Kansas, was sold to a new operator and renamed Hometown Motors (2015), it would receive a new dealer code as well. My local Chrysler/Dodge dealer has gone through several name changes and each time that happens, they get a new dealer code.
So while all of the lists that have been posted are valid, they're valid only for the time period they cover.

Location: Branson, MO | Dad's dealership was 36677. It was DeSoto-Plymouth from 1946 to 1961, Chrysler-Plymouth from 1961 to 1968, then Chrysler-Plymputh-Dodge and Dodge Truck from 1968 until it closed in December of 1980. The dealer number never changed from the time it was assigned.

| I caught a typo and a couple of other items you might want to fix next update.
Topar Dodge in Chicopee, Mass. (which was closed about the time the great purge of 2007-'09 occurred) was actually spelled Topor. I remember seeing their stickers all over the place when I lived in Western Mass.
Grand Spaulding Dodge was in Chicago, Il.

Here's one to add to your list that the Chrysler Historical Association says my car was sold to but I can't find any info on Jackson Motors.
Ingram was probably a separate town from Pittsburg but now it looks like it is just part of Greater Pittsburg. The only hit for a Mopar dealer in Ingram PA that I could find was Union Garage (and O'toole Motors) at 433 Union in Ingram - from the Desoto Club registry. No hits on Jackson Motors in Ingram PA.

I remember seeing their stickers all over the place when I lived in Western Mass. I had a chance to rummage through their attic sometime in the 90s. About 90% of the original build sheet is still attached to the bottom of the glovebox. Oddly, the region
and dealer boxes on it are blank.

I do not know what to think about it 81101. Maybe car was sent to the seller later, or was originally built without an assignment?

I recently bought an exact copy of my very first car; a 1966 Barracuda. In the back of the owners manual is the transfer of ownership form. It was a Chrysler company car for 8 months
until it was sold at Young Motors, located in the 700 block of Fredericksburg, Virginia in Jan. of 1967. The region was 35, and the dealer number was 8405. I did a quick look and didn't see this info in the thread.

| It’s very heavy optioned. I was told the original owner was a executive for Plymouth in 61.
It has power swivel buckets that where in car when new according a neighbor of original owner.
Perhaps dealer installed or some kind of factory show car?
Seems like kinda of a odd dealer number? |
