Veteran Posts: 129 Location: Ben Lomond CA in the Santa Cruz Mtns | I've been driving by this house for years and this car has always been covered....except for today! A knock on the door and after some chit-chat I was given permission to take a few pictures. I asked if it was for sale and it was not. Turns out they've been asked that question "hundreds of times". I'll add pictures as soon as I get them downloaded. Bruce Edited by Twin Fins 2014-05-26 4:36 PM

Location: Parts Unknown | About 1970, my enthusiasm for cars began to wain, as the late 60's cars became bloated pigs and chromed steel was replaced with plastic. But is was the Chevette that really chapped my hide for the American car and brought my focus to a boil over the sh!t we were being fed as "newest is best". An unapologetically repulsive box of sh!t to look at, it ushered in a tidal wave of ugly that we have never climbed out from under. What a piece if sh!t.

Expert Posts: 3575 Location: Netherlands | Doc, why don't you tell us how you really feel ?! I had a similar reaction/feeling when I started getting interested in American cars somewhere in the late '80s. But every year, the new car-crop was such a let down and I just couldn't understand why they put out such lame excuses for cars, and why they just didn't make cool, big cars anymore like 10-15-20 years before. Location: Parts Unknown | That's just it. As if the cars weren't less and less each year, it was the BS we were fed about how much "better" they were that made me come to hate it all. It was the same for music and clothing. Good Gawd, ... weren't the 80's AWESOME ? It was like being forced to eat a sh!t sandwich, all the while being told it was roast beef. I KNOW what roast beef tastes like, and THIS AIN'T IT !

I never forgave my mother. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dT4czozlfV0 Anyway, nice 62 Imperial. The fins were simply removed for 62. That car has a desirable drive-line. The 413 and aluminum 727 with drum style propeller shaft brake are a direct bolt-in for 57-61 V8 cars-- and with a few exceptions this swap can make your car into more of a beast than ever. But, we wouldn't want to part out such a lovely automobile.

Elite Veteran Posts: 988 Location: Kansas City, Kansas | I think some people just like having something interesting sitting out for people to see. They love it when people come to the door, asking if it is for sale, sort of an "I have something you want" mentality. It doesn't matter what it is to them, just something that gets passersby interest. Could be a Chebby, a Humber, an Oliver tractor...any shiny object will do. It will sit there until the person dies, so there is no worries about declining value.

Hate to see a "stored" car, like this one, still having good quality ephemeral parts/pieces on it, like steering wheels, dash pads, upholstery, headliners, and plastic components, which will go-bad if the car is allowed to continue to be exposed to 'the elements'. Another car "appreciating" in value, as it slowly decomposes.

Mother always hated it, said it made our cottage look like a ritzy whore house. But I promised daddy I wouldn't sell it till the Chicago Cubs won the World Series."
