Member Posts: 25 Location: Imperial,CA | I don't see any evidence of the air suspension option on my Imperial. It may have been taken out by the original owner or was never installed (is that possible?). The previous owner of my car, who had it since '62, never mentioned it having that option. The car had aftermarket rear air shocks when I bought it. This Imperial was first owned by a dealer at a local Chrysler/Plymouth/Imperial dealership so it was equipped with pretty much every option available except for the hood ornament and the right side rear view mirror. Thanks again for your help! Edited by 59imperial 2014-04-10 11:17 PM

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Find your "Swivel Seat" option, along the bottom row, and go three columns to the 'right', and you will see the option column "Air Sus & __?" . There are two punched-out options in that column, over the "2" and over the "7", so your car has two options under whatever that three-digit option series may include, ending with a '2' and with a '7' Trying to count the option-numbers, running consecutively across the bottom of your IBM card, the "Air Sus &__" options might be 392 and 397, but, again, I don't 'speak' Imperial (options), and your car talks the 1959 dialect.

Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | Did some decoding by the columns and rows (punch holes). The bottom row of holes is "9" and the top (the line where there are three holes just under 562 and 463) is "0". The one lone hole in the box just below "Dealer" is a shift key which makes the "4" in the column an "M". Chrysler Engineering Code for the 1959 model year 309 - Flight-Sweep Decklid 329 - Silvercrest Landau Roof 335 - Electric Door Locks 342 - A/C, Dual, with Heater/Defroster 362 - Swivel Seats 391 - ?? 397 - Auto Pilot 402 - Mirror, Left Outside, Remote 405 - Mirrormatic 445 - Radio - Electrotouch, with foot control 466 - Solex with Shaded Windshield 531 - ?? 543 - Generator - ?? 602 - New Car Service True-Level Torsion-Aire Suspension (aka air suspension) was code 396, which is not on the card.

Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | What 392? Column 39 has two holes punched - 1 and 7. Column 40 has the 2 punched. (1959 Imperial IBM 1D.JPG) Attachments ---------------- 1959 Imperial IBM 1D.JPG (226KB - 223 downloads)

Member Posts: 25 Location: Imperial,CA | Thanks Chrycoman! I just found an options code list on the IML website and it shows that option 391 is for the Automatic Beam Changer, which my car has. What exactly does option 602 (New Car Service) mean? That line appears to have the number 2 punched out.

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | There are different extents to New Car Service, but, essentially, the factory installed lubricants (sometimes, even gasoline) and fluids and aligned the front suspension so that the car could be immediately driven away upon its arrival at the dealership....instead of having the dealership perform those functions upon a car's arrival. A car didn't necessarily need to be Special Ordered (as yours wasn't) in order to receive N.C.S. at the factory. N.C.S. is different from Customer Drive (-Away), where the new owner would take delivery at the factory and drive it away. He would previously have had to make his payment arrangements through his selling dealership, but, Customer Drive Away was a relatively popular protocol for some owners who wanted to start a vacation with their new ride, right at the factory.
