I'm getting fairly close to fininshing my dad's '58. I still need both rear exterior door handles. Anyone know where I can find them? A fl member has directed me to John @ BigM and I'll call him Monday. Any help would be appreciated. Doug

Very nice. I hope you have it done on time for the Athens, AL cars and bikes on the square. It will be on the 27th of this month. I hope to see you there . The more fowardlook cars the merrier. They also have a monthly cruise in from April - October it is the 1st Saturday so the next cruise in will be May 4th .

That's a mighty fine looking inner trim ring on your trunk! It's rare to see them without being pitted.

Try Bob Hoffmeister at http://www.imperialheaven.com/
I'm sure he'll have the parts you need

That show sounds like fun. I've gotta get my dad to a show or two. He's 85 and is beggining to need my assistance to be mobile. I think I can have the 58 ready by then and if I cant, we can drive the 300B. I'll "forward look" to meeting you. Doug

Don, Thanks for the compliment. That ring was pretty nasty, I used a syringe with chrome paint to fill the pits and it worked better than I thought it would. I sent Bob an e-mail and hopefully he'll have what I need. Thanks for the parts information. I've been making the lenses that I need from plexyglas. Those backup light lenses while not correct turned out ok. Thanks again, Doug

Getting closer, just need a few parts and truck-hood-door fitting. I'll be making the rear bumper "skirt" next week as I'm tied up with a '48 New Yorker for a few days. These are the tires I got from recondo/Bob and they are ice smooth up 85 mph. Thanks, Bob. The wheel covers are '62 Imp. I don't have any '58's. Do you guys think these are ok? I kinda like them but I'll change em if you think they look bad or take away from the looks of the car. I made this rubber "rust cover", I did this rather than spend the ~ $400 to re-chrome. Please share your thoughts positive or negative.

On your rust cover, personally, if its 400 to chrome a huge bumper like that, I think I would be re chroming it

The bumper on my dodge cost $2000 to do including the overiders

Syringe, huh?

Thanks and yep, we're pleased with the look and value of the tires. I made a deal with a local tire shop to mount and balance tires for all our local NARAACA members for $9 per tire. I suspect he'll be getting plenty of work. Doug

BTW, you've met my dad, he's a trip ain't he? Fred Sanford wishes he were like my dad.

I'd don't think this piece will ever pass an 'up close' inspection.
