Extreme Veteran Posts: 591 Location: West Chester, PA | I bought my 58's from ebay, but they were not cheap. I heard that Gary Goers is repoping them now... Edited by phurious 2012-07-13 10:11 AM

Member Posts: 9 | I emailed Gary Goers a while back and got no reply at all. i have found a manufacturer in Turkey who is contracted to caterpillar and makes a compatible filter to the same pattern. I am hoping their english is good so i can try to buy a trade quantity of these filters to make available to club members...it all depends on how good his english is, because I can't speak Turkish!! How much demand is there likely to be for these items if i could get a bulk quantity??

Member Posts: 9 | How feasible is it to buy the taller filters and cut them down to fit into the 1958 style canisters??

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | The illustrated air filters won't win you any car show awards, because they are obviously new/aftermarket items. The OEM guys have 'chicken-wire' square pattern wire closures on it. If you are going after-market, here is the K & N air filters; pricey, but cleanable and reusable. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00062YKG2/ref=asc_df_B00062YKG21714147?sm...

Extreme Veteran Posts: 591 Location: West Chester, PA | Air filters are considered "consumables", but thanks for your input! Feel free to spend stupid money on your OEM/NOS air filters. I posted this here for the people who are looking for an inexspensive alternative, not for the pricey OEM 'chicken-wire' chicken footed d-bags...
