Elite Veteran Posts: 1172 Location: Georgia | I've just listed my '58 Silver Special 2-door on eBay, item # 320831826683, at no reserve. Let me know if anyone here is interested or have any questions. I just don't hardly drive this one anymore, and need to thin the herd. Also, my '60 DeSoto is still available, in the For Sale section. Time to focus on my '61 Plymouths, it can be difficult to maintain too many cars at once. Thanks Pete (Jan16,2012c.jpg) (Jan16,2012e.jpg) Attachments ---------------- Jan16,2012c.jpg (169KB - 431 downloads) Jan16,2012e.jpg (185KB - 1473 downloads)

Location: The Mile High City | I like the "no reserve" for this car. On eBay, they used to advise you to list your item with no reserve - it would sell for more than an item with a reserve. It also says Pete is serious about selling and bidders better bid now - no second chances on this one!

Location: The Mile High City | I also like how clean (no stainless trim) this one is. It really shows off the splendid design of the 57 and 58 Plymouths. Pete, was it always this way - with no trim and silver and white paint? Edited by Lancer Mike 2012-01-17 9:55 PM

Location: Parts Unknown | Pete told me his Silver Special trim was hammered, so he left it off. I too prefer to cleaner look without, especially that oddly placed fender trim, and my Plaza will lose the trim when the body work is done. It was optional on the non-SS Plaza, so no great shakes. I just wish that Forward Look emblem was stock to all Plazas. This car is very inspirational for me and my car. If it were Buzzard Puke Green and a 4 door, I'd be all over it !

Elite Veteran Posts: 1172 Location: Georgia | Thanks for the positive comments! Yes, the trim is off the car and incomplete. I, too, like the plain sides so I never bothered to replace the trim. Brent and I maybe in the minority, but I think these cars really stand out in their base form. A beautiful woman need not wear jewelry to be beautiful. Although, I suppose jewelry wouldn't really help an ugly one, either! I've always done well with no reserve auctions, for the very reasons Mike stated above. Pete

Pete %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% It would be hard to make a 58 Plymouth "ugly". IMO, Plymouth never got it so "right" as they did in 1958. Some are sexier than others, but for any given model or body style, they really had a well designed flow. The strippers show off just how good that basic platform is. Being the guy who always goes for the seldom seen variant, I love the bare body as compared to the flashy Christine look. Altho I will readily admit that a well trimmed fancy one is the pinnacle of Plymouth sexy.

Location: The Mile High City | Hi, Pete - Is that the original paint or original paint scheme? It seems pretty rare to see that silver color on a 1958 Plymouth - even being a "Silver Special"!
