Me too Jessica, Seems we both went a long way for that show and did not meet. Great show with a lot of FL cars to gaze upon. Nice day yesterday in Denver, hit in the 60"s but today will be in the mid 40's. Getting the seats ready to drop off at the upholster on Tuesday.

There is always this year, if you will be making the trek. I should be in the area as we will have finished our move to NY by then.

Good news! I stopped traveling long enough to get some work done on the 59. With Help from the Richard's family (Tony, Ivy and Gerad) who felt pity on my wiring woes with the new modern wire harness, They stopped by on Monday evening and with in two hours we had finished wiring the Mopar electronic ignition (60-70's style) on my 413 RB.

It seems that the wiring directions were a bit off on wiring up a Mopar and would have fried a few fuses if I had not stopped and said I need help! Though we did not start the cart, we did get the motor to turn over a rev or two (gas line not hooked up) and no smoke or blown fuses incurred. Yeah team!

Hope to get it running this weekend as the interior is due to be finished next week. And the door panels from SMS due by Months end too!

It sounds like it is really getting close now, John! It is amazing what you can get done with some adult supervision from the Richard family! Now post some photos, you hippie mac-user!

and those "ladder" looking things must be the items you place over the springs to distribute weight evenly? I guess those replace the metal mesh and jute pads we all had originally...

Mike, I guess it was a cry for help... I did bring the same picture to work (that is how I sent them to you) and was going to upload them at my work PC to alleviate the Mac problem I have to upload there. I did have to buy some additional woven fabric and vinyl from SMS since my shop ran short. SMS shipped it out yesterday. Thanks Doug at SMS!

The shop is using the extra ladders spring supports that I pick up from Gary Goers to supplement the less then supportive OEM springs. They are place perpendicular to the seat springs.

Being a full figured Forward Looker might have played into that too! But the upholstery shop said that it will help the separating of the sewn parts if you have less deflection in the material that would put stress on those joints when sitting on the seats. Makes sense to me and my Butt!

My upholstery shop is also including door panels for me to in the quoted price.. That is a bonus. I have on order for a set from SMS that should be shipping out in a couple of weeks. To late to cancel them so I will keep both sets. I will compare quality too! All of this will take two weeks to do. Stop by in a week or two to check out the quality of it.

I think those Sport Fury buckles will look pretty neat on the back rests, especially on the front swing-out seats. You made a good call there.

My De Soto has the (very) plain all-vinyl interior and when I see pictures of the upgrade fabric interior, like Alan and Brad have on theirs, I turn green with envy! I think those fancy interiors make a huge difference in how the car looks, especially with convertibles.

Shoot Mike you are too quick, I am using my lap top to upload now (its a PC) instead of our new MAC (frustrating device sometimes...)

But I thank you for doing my work for me. The front seats are waiting for new fabric (ran out) from SMS and should be in this week.

I Like the way it is turning out with the white Bolster and the correct period fabric. Should look good in my Spring Color Turquoise convert!

Here are some more pic's of my Interior and the new top installed on the convert. I will not be able to much on the car for the next 2 months due to my back surgery. The Richards Famil will take over a put an exhaust on the car and finish what I have not been able to do.

Issues with picture size.... be back soon!

Thanks Bengt, I did care for the original Black that car came in so my wife and I opted for the 59 Spring Color of Turquoise . The many years ago I had scored a bare front 59 Swivel seat frame. My wife liked those seats and so the we opted for upgrading the interior to the Sport Fury style while keeping the exterior a Belvedere trim level. The green fabric was to Green and Blue original fabric was to Blue.

Not knowing what Plymouth actually called out for fabric color with the 59 Spring Colors, the original 59 neutral gray/black with the gold weave seemed to be the one that the factory would have used so we went with that. Being in very Sunny Colorado we went with the white bolster seat material to finish it off to keep it cool in the sun. I was also pleased on how it turned out. The back seat is done in NOS material and front seats are done in the re-pop version by SMS Inc. Pretty close match

Just Dashes Inc, in Van Nuys, California did a color match to the exterior paint for the padded dash pad, The color match is spot on! and went on easy to the dash board

Thanks for your Kind comments.

Mike, I have been calling the car "Betty Belvedere", Christine's nicer younger sister. Our buddy Rick Clapham has off an on called it "Frau Blue Car" after the character from Mel Brook's "Young Frankenstein" (Frau Blukar) Either one will work.

I am waiting to put on the replaced front and rear bumpers till after it gets back from the Richard's shop.

My Convert took another trip today via my car trailer as I dropped it off at Tony & Ivy's Mopower Masters shop (Jared did the loading of the car out of my garage and lift)

The Richards will have the car for a week or two to put on the exhaust and more important, get the car to drive under it's own power. I am so close but with my Spinal surgery has prevented me from doing much with a 5 lbs weight limit and no twisting or torquing my body, You kinda have to do that when working on a car!!

I gave them a list of 10+ items and I am sure there is more to add to it. I told them to pretend the car is theirs and do what you think should be done over and above my list.

Good to have friends like that and even better when they are a repair shop that deals with Mopar's and Forward Look cars!

I did paint the front swivel seat frame this weekend and installed the seats on them. I greased up the nylon rollers and the seat track and it worked super. I was relieved I could at least accomplish that feat.

Even then I needed help in lifting the seats up to the work table I was using for trying to do things at waist level. I will download those pictures tonight.

I will accept Betty Belvedere (Christine's younger nicer sister!) or the Frau Blue Car name! I didi stop by the Richard's shop today (they are off on Monday but you would never know it with all the work they are doing) Gerad was working on the Convert already and had the rear seats out and was dinking with the rear quarter windows weather stip and lubricating the tracks and the convertible top cylinders/pump. Discovered my top switch is defective and only works in one direction. I have an NOS one at home and will dig that out for him.

That kid loves FL cars! Not bad for a 20 year old. We will be in good hands for many years to come!

The seats look very good. But do not forget the paperboard to be under the swivel seat. Painted the same color as the vinyl.
Taking picture of my seat when I get home. Have seen many who do not have it on the new refurbished cars

Joakim, You are right! I do have the two Cardboard panels that go under the seat. the tacks stayed on the frame. Mine was a Gray brown color if I remember right. I will dig them up today and take some pics of them.

I do have the black plastic floor covers too! One needs slight repair, so I better get on that too!

Can you email me some pic's of your Windsor Convert? I would love to see what you have.

I found my underneath cardobard panels that I took (fell off almost) from the seats when I started dis-assembly) The tacks that attached it are still in their original postion. So it will be easy to locate and attach. The tack have left track in the cardboard where they weakened and fell off. I will use a little double sided tape in few spots to place back on the underneath part of the seats.

My cardboard panels had lighter (Natural) color on the outside (towards the carpet) and the black part face inward towards the seat springs. The original color of this seat was green. Maybe Plymouth did not paint the bottoms to continue to deliver a low cost value.

Mike, Not a bad Idea to make cardboard patterns before I re-install. Or at least a template for them. In case someone else needs some.
Paper Templates are better, that way I can send them via mail and they can cut them out of their own cardboard material.

If anyone wants a paper Template of these, I will trace them out and send it to them for free (in the US) Europe postage may cost a dollar or two etc. to get them there.

Operators are standing buy....LOL

Hi Serge! I have not done the dimension yet but will and will scan the document, You are better at CAD then I. And I will re-attach the panels in a day or two and show what they look like installed.

I will also show the metal tacks that are still imbedded in the bottom of the swivel seat frame. The cardboard panels have a slight contour to them when installed. The are not flat pieces. I will take some pictures that will show these curves.

Exhaust was finished today and looks great. Had the Father son team at MoPower Masters put on the period correct (actually Dodge deflector re-pops) for that look of what an owner would do 6+ mos after owenership. Kinda enhancing his car a bit.

The re-built 413RB has a nice rumble to it and should have a lot of get up and go. I will post some pic's but had problems at the 59 Plymouth site of attaching the wav file of it running. Lets hope I can figure it out here.

Interior carpet and seats should go in on Tuesday and should make our local Mopar show this weekend.

Here is You Tube link to a very short video of the new exhaust and the 413 running. That is Boy Genius (20 year old) Gerad Richards at the helm sitting on a milk crate. Great to hear it running after 7 years of putting it back together. I got it 85% done and the Richard's fixed my errors in 3 weeks. Good to have a shop for us local FL people to go to. They do Mopar Muscle cars too and modern Mopars to boot.

Thanks Scott, The interior carpet and seats are in and has been driven around the block at the Richards shop. I will pick it up this afternoon. And our local Mopar show is tomorrow, 8-11-12 at Southglenn Mall in Centennial, Colo, If you head out now you might make it in time!

I will post some pic's from the last few days and after tommorows show. There is still a lot of detailing left to do but I will have the fall and the winter to do so. But at least it is a running driving car to be enjoyed.

John

Last Friday I picked up my convertible from th Richard's Mo Power Master shop almost 3 weeks to the day of dropping it off. PIcked up the car late on Friday afternoon, put it in my car trailer for a car show last Saturday, 8-11-12.

Here are some of the pics that I took of those two days.

I ended up placing first in the Forward Look class of cars at this all Mopar show. I think the unique Spring Special color of Turquoise along with the upgraded Sport Fury interior of Swivel seats and correct OEM and SMSD fabric had a lot to do with it.

Also, Mike Sutherland ( AKA Lancer Mike, De Soto Mike) was fashionably late arriving and I managed to take some of the early votes before Mike arrived on the scene with his Stunning 58 De Sot Convertible. Early bird gets the worm Mike! LOL

(Sorry about letting the air of your tires Mike!)
