Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Location: .Norfolk..Mafia.. ,England UK | This is a Question asked by a Ebay member.. Q: What documentation do you have for your claims of factory concept car? Thanks................... Feb-08-08 A: Unfortunately, the engineer who designed this vehicle lives here in Sarasota is elderly and has a little dementia. The title is in the name of the Florida State Representative on the US Government Business Commission. If documentation was readily available, we would sell at over $100,000. We will continue to try to reach the engineer to obtain paperwork....... Thanks for asksing. Edited by Rebels-59 Coronet 2008-02-09 2:25 AM

Expert Posts: 1302 Location: Skaneateles,NY(summer)/Port St.Lucie,FL(winter) | It looks for all the world, to me, like someone has sectioned and heavily modified an early 50's Mopar Business Coupe, and grafted in a LOT of '57 DeSoto parts...maybe even used a '57 frame. Desoto's last Hurrah was in 1957, and they wouldn't have had a Concept Car...CERTAINLY not a split windshield throw-back design...

Elite Veteran Posts: 1172 Location: bradenton florida | I contacted his about see it and will post what I find out, but I have my doubts. His web site says his business in St Petersburg only after looking his phone number up, as his address isn't anywhere to be found. and his listing says the car is in Sarasota. PS, I don't think that's the original stick holding the trunk open, The original stick would have been painted red.

Actually I thought DeSoto sold pretty well up until the 1959 model year. After that Chrysler decided to pull the plug because its market niche was gone. But that is no one-off dream car. It carries a lot of stock 1957 DeSoto parts but the styling says "Suddenly it's 1950!" with the split windshield and all.

Expert Posts: 1357 Location: Iowa USA | Wrecked 57 Desoto stripped of parts and put on a cut up early 50s Plymouth sedan that has been shortened and butchered. Yeah it's a concept car! Something tells me the guy that made ths may have had mental problems before the dementia set in. Looks like a late 50s custom creation to me! If anybody falls for this and pays anything more than what the hemi and various other parts are worth they have more money than brains. Edited by roadkillontheweb 2008-02-09 3:16 PM

Inactive by Request Posts: 1292 Location: Lovely place | This is clearly an older custom, no way this would be manufactured by DeSoto! 4wardlook is right, if they would built a prototype it would look something close to a space shuttle! This car is out of line. And what is so much technical advancement in this car? Why built such a prototype, no this is just bull... Cedric

They never seem to get the flash appeal to passengers while hidden on the left side of the steering wheel. I always wondered why people that made hotrods using early hemis didn't mount the pushbutton shifter under their, seats. As long as the driver knows the pattern by feel every one else will be confused looking for the shifter. You can always tell you passengers it is voice activated and holler out drive (or reverse) and hit the button without them seeing it?

Elite Veteran Posts: 1172 Location: bradenton florida | the car is only about 8 miles from me in the next town but the seller hasn't replied so I guess he must have figured it a fake and just wants the listing to end quietly.
