During the first time, the car didn't have a name, more like short -sara or toga. Since then the girl has been named JoseFin from the name-day when I bought her and a capital F to underline the Fins on her.

This is an update of the options that she has (after mounted);

Auto-Pilot (work in progress, this winter)
Swivel Seats (work in progress, this winter)
6-way Power seat
Power windows
Delux Padded Lucite steeringwheel
Golden Touch Tone 7-button radio
Mirrormatic
3-post hooded rearviewmirror, passenger side
Fender ornaments
All chrome inside HT trim
Rear speaker trim and mesh
Rear defroster
Dual Exhaust system (work in progress, this winter)
Vanity mirror
Rear bumper guards
Power antenna (aftermarket whatever)

Quite impressive list Sven...

`Cos you now have swivel seats ongoing I´ll be visiting Sturkö soon and I won`t leave before we have a deal of your 6-way power seat

There is swivel seats for sale in eBay but imo too expensive as being total project. I´ve been collecting small items to my Soto and latest score is "map light". I didn`t won the "dash clock" even that I bid  sh*t load of money for it. I assume that someone needed it more than I did. With the money saved I went for the tool store and bought "planishing hammer" + some other metal shaping goodies...  This winter I can atleast try to learn how to use real tools. Might be confusing `cos I´m so used to my  old reliable "screw wise + hammer tehnique"

Dear friend, you're welcome to visit us, but the undercarriage for the 6-way seat will be used under the swivel seats (the same undercarriage is used as for the benchseats)!

Wow Sven, those seats look great _ I am envious.

So you have taken the Saratoga upholstery and done it in the pattern of the New Yorker. The New Yorker upholstery pattern looks more like a bucket seat and looks more comfortable to sit on.

It looks very good that way. ( for those who don't know - see my Saratoga version below ) .

The New Yorker is the terra-cotta color interior at bottom.

Yes Ian, basically the idea is from the NY style, but my fabric has a more conical form and the piping is pulled in deep in the seats and less deep in the backrests. Further, the backrests has been slightly modified - you may notice that they're not so bulky anymore. The bucket form makes the seats more comfortable and keeps you "in place". There is however much work that remains, with adjusting of the height and improvement of the swivel parts. The swivel seats were an outstanding cool gadget when they where released in '59, but the quality of the parts leaves much to wish for. Even more, the automatic swivel seats that made a one year only - '60 had poor quality in the actuating parts in the doors. The $121 paid for the option must be considered a bad investment, since the major part of the automatic swivel seats soon became manual - they just broke down too much. I have been thinking to try to get the missing parts for the automatic function and to improve them - had Chrysler done that from the beginning, we might have seen that option for many years. A trivia about the swivel seats is that they where created as an idea of how to ease into the low cars in the later FL era.
I really love the special options and gadgets - it's a drug for me.

very cool sven... you are doing a good job locating all those options... im curious if there are any options that were available that you dislike and would not source and put on your car? one for me would be roof racks... im always interested to hear peoples loves and dislikes of options... i personally love the front window outside body colour sunvisor (i know not a forwardlook option), of which i know many people utterly despise... adriana

Actually, there's really no of the options that I dislike, but I'm not very fond of the toilet seat deck lid myself. For me, this "disturbes" the clean sweeping lines of the fins for the '60 Chryslers. Yet another one is the fender skirts, which I don't think fits a '60 at all. Those are my peronally opionions about two of the options.

Sven, as to the automatic swivel seats, Smitty - a member of this forum makes replacement cables for them, he says they are heavier duty than the originals. Mine are the automatic type, but cables are broken. At this point I'm not sure if I want to replace the cables, or just disconnect the springs because without the cables attached, the return springs cause the seats to swing back inwards and they don't swing out very easily with the springs attached.

As to the toilet seat deck lid, I agree it disturbs the clean lines of the FL styling somewhat, but I'm glad I've got one, it gets a huge amount of attention from people!

Were the rear door child safety locks a factory option on 60 Chryslers? I've never heard of that one before on these cars.

Yes indeed they where Ian. The rear door child safety locks are advertised in the MoPar Accessories 1960. The lock wher kind of OK - the children could not open the rear door, neither could you from the outside in case of an accident!!!!! You had to reach in, put one of the keys in the slot of the lock and pull back the locking pin, then lift up the locking lever - not a good thing if the car was on fire. I collect options, so I mounted them anyway.

The mats are indeed aftermarket Nisse, but they where made way back then, so they're not re-pops. I think that they fit any car. Although they looks nice, they're kind of dryed out - I have treated them with silicone spray.

You got a wonderful 60 Saratoga... When I compare it to my 56 NY your is uncountable steps in advance. You could drive your car while mine's still stalled at the mechanic (did not do anything). At your pics I see how nice re-chromed fenders are looking. The interior looks astonishing! Congratulation to your car.
Happy motoring

What a beautiful car, and I'm sure it's even more beautiful than the pics can show. I've noticed that for some reason pictures never do the 60-61 Chryslers full justice. The fins look truly massive when you see them in person.

Today, I finally mounted the rear ash receiver. Hard to find, but nice to have. Oh, the second photo comes from a friend who has not mounted his ash receiver yet. The ting is that I had a cardboard sheet under the fabric and could not feel where the frame for the ash receiver was in the backrest. So that photo is for to help others with the same problem.

The addition of yet a much wanted accessorie - RCA AP-1 Record changer, the first step (modern radio/cd/MP3 player inside the casing). The record changer mechanism is renovated and will remain stored until I'll be able to build a modern amplifier into the original radio.

wizard - 2010-05-14 5:51 PM So, finally today JoseFin got her new seats mounted.

Again and again I look in this thread admiring this beautiful car, fully loaded with affections of his owner - Sven. At the first glance and for outsiders, this car looks as a 2-Door, due to its engineous design.

The swivel seats operation I found a little bit "restrichted" because of the smaller door opening of a 4-door car, as already stated. Thinking about, it should be easy possible, to get its full rotation as on a 2-door, in modifying its pivot to a "floating" pivot the way, that turning the seat out, it moves simultaneously up to 5cm towards front (not the seat frame with the 6-way adjuster), just never touching the cars body.

This is called a guided rotation. Then. some brackets, some weldings - that's it! Every solution starts with an idea. This is another one for Sven.  - SERGE -

What a beauty Sven. Pretty soon your going to run out of things to add to Josefin. Your eventually going to have to buy another car to support your compulsive behaviour of adding options. You know this right?

Sven, the only option left to install would be A/C. But of course, who needs A/C in Sweden?

Sven, do the door locks automatically lock when the car starts moving after a few seconds? I once read somewhere in the literature from Chrysler that they engage automatically when the car starts moving.

That's one option I dont have Ian - I have some of the parts and I buy things when I stumble over them. The AC means that the dash has to be completely demounted so I dwell on it
