Checking "images" led me to a great website of local historical photos, and shur-nuff !!! ... that place is right in my old back yard ! Here's a couple other shots of it at different times. For those who have never driven Chuckunut Drive, it is a wonderful 30 +/- mile getaway from the Costco/freeway BS we all get stuck with. AFAIK, the oyster joint is still in operation and is a great place to eat. I was told by my mother's cousin who lived on Chuck A Nut Drive that this is the longest road in the world?last time I spoke to them in the '90s they told me in'58 they wanted to buy a new Imperial but the trunk was too small so they bought a '58 Lincoln instead.

Learned two things: My friend expressed surprised that a clay model was being done of a '58 when the changes from '57 were so small. Second, the man on the left is Al LaCroix. Started at Chrysler as a clay modeller and became a designer later in his career. No I.D. on the man on the right thus far.

I've seen a few pics of converts being raced. I don't know why either. You'd think, besides the weight, they would twist quite a bit. Not much rigidity there. The 1980 movie The Shining used aerial shots of the Timberline Lodge as part of its opening scene, and exterior footage for some establishing shots of the fictional Overlook Hotel throughout the movie. The movie was based on the Stephen King novel of the same name (Overlook_timberline.jpg) Attachments ---------------- Overlook_timberline.jpg (43KB - 168 downloads)

Elite Veteran Posts: 836 Location: Layton, Utah | I guess it makes sense to use a convertible for the flower car conversion, but kind of a shame though. These cars were stored inside at the funeral homes and kept in imaculate condition until they sold them, probable after 4-6 years I would guess. Then the next buyer more than likely kept them outside which because of the roof modifications they leaked and rusted them out. THe factory window seals leaked on them anyway which took out the floors etc. People did'nt think these cars would ever be desireable which makes no sense because the first time I found my first 60 Fireflite hardtop Sedan in about 1985 I was hooked and I just knew they would be sought after and going up in value continually. An era of auto design that would never return.

All I can do is attach a link ... http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/mopar/59ply/bilder/4.jpg . He still was droving it in 1970 loaned it once to me. He told me that since I liked fins --- then I should feel "At Home".
