That's Juan Pizzaro - it seems like Dodge had some agreement with Milwaukee Braves - I've seen pictures of players with Dodges....

I don't recognize the ball player but that's old Milwaukee County Stadium. I went to many ball games there. The Brewers, not Braves, were playing there though in my day.

I have always found it hard to believe that Plymouth built a Belvedere 2 door sedan. Just seems
like a contradiction of top model and el cheapo body type. I found a midnight blue with white top/
sweep example once that had been customized to fit a camper to the rear portion of the body !

Brent's referring to the top of the line (sub-Fury) Belvederes.

The only 2-dr sedan that Dodge offered was in its bottom level Coronets (in either 6 cylinder or V/8 persuasions).

So, it kinda makes sense that a customer who really was jones-ing for a 2-dr sedan would have the opportunity to buy a 'loaded' deluxe one
(Plymmie only), if he really wanted one.

yes but even that bottom level was a notch higher than a belvedere. buick was next to cadillac.

=================================================

As Neil pointed out, it was Plymouth's top shelf model.

Dodge did not offer a Custom Royal 2 door sedan, as Buick did not offer a Roadmaster 2 door sedan,
or Pontiac a Bonneville 2 door sedan.

Plymouth was a little different, that's all. I have never seen many of them, and too lazy to go look up
production numbers, but I don't think they built many, compared to the Savoys and Plazas. Interesting
cross breed of top model and a body type generally purchased by persons attracted to lower priced models.

Just for comparison, how many in the Savoy and Plaza lines ?

I wonder how this would compare to Chevy and Ford's 2 door sedan numbers ?

Something that immediately comes to mind is how (in my own head), Plymouth
was "so much MORE car" than those other two, even though they really were direct
competitors.

This is my own paradigm, but I tend to think of Chrysler NY'ers as being fancy cars,
... just as I do Fireflites. Yet, truth be told, I have seen a LOT of both that were pretty
basic cars in terms of options and overall driver "plush", whereas I have seen a pretty
fair number of "lowly" Plymouths that were very nicely equipped, calling into question
the paradigm that a Chrysler is somehow a much more "upscale" car than a Plymouth.

Based on what ? Period advertising ? Some trumped-up mystique ? What is that
mystique based on ? In many ways, "cheaper" makes were often delivered as nicer
cars than the so-called "fancy" makes !
