Talk about “stock” car. This is it in spades! Sure wish NASCAR was like this.

It was the "Schauinsland" Bergrennen (hill climb) in Germany. Yes, stock cars should be regular off the show room floor cars, like in the early days.

What is that under the rear bumper of the Imperial? Or am I seeing things?

1957-59 Imperials had a rear valance under the rear bumper to block the view of mechanicals like the exhaust, gas tank and springs. They don't all seem to have them now so I don't know if people removed them or if not all cars got them.

They were bad mounted and most of them just fell down. My imperial incredibly still has it.

OK, thanks, nice idea, that lower valance, to hide the "vulgar" (for Imperial owners) mechanical things

It probably cost more for that photo-shoot than they recouped from all sales of that model...

Powerflite - 2022-07-27 9:47 PM Being in the business world, my interpretation of that picture is that the guy sitting at the desk is the person that actually designed the '57 Plymouth. The other two are bosses that give input, but aren't the real talent behind the design. What is the name of the guy sitting there? He probably deserves credit.
Excactly. Just as Samson (who worked under Exner during that period) said and it was the Chrysler brass that gave the main styling direction. Without Ex, we probably would have even "googier" looking cars and reportedly, Ex had nothing to do with the design of the 60/61 Mopars, except the 60 Valiant, which was the only model he designed all by himself and that is THE ugliest American car of the 40s, 50s and 60s.

It was a plucked chicken... that was certainly not Exners design...

this was what he wanted...  but they ended up with some horrid cut downs...

and car design seemed to be by committee... with the studio heads "directing" the general feel...

Exner was way too into these "hanging headlights"... which i hate..

but they did a great job in 57 and they rushed once the spys at GM and Ford found out what was going on...

A Fresno 56 Dodge Dealer seeking a former customer without knowing that they had moved from Fresno CA to somewhere in FLA.

I can't find Frank E. Beckett in any of our dealer lists. *BUT* the dealership was real (I will post info in the dealership sub-section)

Those are neat family pictures John! I wish my parents were mopar folk, but my grandfather was more of an International/Ford guy, and my father more of a non-car guy, so I don't have many cool car photos.

My father bought this 58 Plaza for $10 in 1967 and installed a rebuilt 6 cylinder. Car was unusually solid for the northeast and amazingly had no rust on the fender eyebrows. He sold it to the gentleman in this picture taken in Flemington NJ.

Judging from the background, especially the lightposts, it looks like the photo was taken in the Turntable Junction area of Flemington NJ.

https://www.butkus.org/postcards/turntable_junction_2015.html

Established in the mid-1960's, Turntable Junction was filled with unique stores and restaurants.

You could also take the nearby Black River & Western railroad on a countryside tour of the area.

https://www.blackriverrailroad.com

A nearby outlet store expansion in the 1990's has only one or two open stores left and is being offered for redevelopment.

This is my father's 59 Plymouth that he purchased in 1966. He was working part time at Bolmers Chrysler Plymouth in Bound Brook NJ where he was lucky enough to purchase brand new fenders that were sitting up in the parts department loft. He later added 1967 Plymouth GTX hood scoops and a complete Sport Fury interior that he optained from a parts car.

The 61 Newport vert was 7-8 years old when my friend got it.

The 59 Dodge Kingsway vert is a very rare car. Still remains in a garage...

Thanks' Jocke!
The guy in the '61 Newport vert is my friend "Rolle Pedal" in his youth

The girl in the backseat of the Kingsway is another friend, Stina (became girlfried of Rolle Pedal)

The Fury '57 is most probably Jockes from Karlshamn (if so, he still have this car) another friend of mine.

The '59 Kingsway vert belongs to "Kirre Dodge", an other friend in the old circle (if I'm correct, he still have this car in his garage, never driven since then).

The Olds '55 vert was owned by Rolle Pedal at the time, if I remember correct, sold towards Kalmar

I recognise the Ford vert, but don't remember the owner

The golden '57 Caddy vert belonged to Kenna from Karlskrona. Another friend, since long employed by Albinsson & Sjöberg. Now in charge of the car museum of A&S. I'll meet him this sunday in the museum.
