Of the 700 '55 Corvettes built, only six or seven had the "Stovebolt Six" (officially, the "Blue Flame 6") as all the rest had the 265 CID/195 HP V-8, albeit that only about 75 of them had manual 3-speeds (the vast majority having the yucky PowerGlide). Besides, on a quiet night you can listen to the old iron MoPars rusting.

You were partially correct Sid - first year production was only equipped with the 6 cylinder, but that was only for 1953.

Yes, the first V8 for Corvette was 1955.

There were a couple dozen Corvettes built early in 1955 with a 6 cylinder engine. And all 1953 and 1954 Corvettes came with 6 cylinder engines.

I guess the Peoples Bank made enough to build a new building on that corner. I was there (in Brattleboro) this past summer. Very nice little town. We stayed at the Latchis Hotel (art deco(ish)). Some good restaurants in the downtown too. Very few Forward Look cars

I tried the infraview and and it won't load on a iPad for some reason? I only post a small portion of pics I have. Only the best ones. That drive in pic is a poster worthy pic. Thanks.
