The '56 De Soto...

What is going on? Has, perhaps, the owner (at right) asked for a pic of the car with this pose of a Groucho lookalike lighting Groucho's cigar?

Jim asks (on previous page) if this car is "restorable".

Well, that depends on a lot of things, depending primarily upon where this wreck is located, its purchase
price, the cost to get it to the owner's restoration shop, the shop's costs to restore it...and the market
value of the restored car (which is to say: how rare/desirable is the subject car, as-is-now?).

Is the car a 2-four-barrel model, or heavily optioned, unusual features etc?

Notice how the two mean, in the PLY photo, were added to the photo transparency ("sandwiched") by the advertising agency; a common ploy.

Looks like a 67 Vette parked there.

If so, the Fair-Weather-PLY-VERT had survived for 9 years, so far.

Wonder if it fully-survived?

But, is that a 53 F-word parked next to it?

I had the awesome opportunity to eat at the "Nighthawk Cafe" a couple days ago. The ambiance
was that of an old air raid shelter, but what a terrific breakfast ! Couldn't eat half of it, it was so big !
The place was full of old farmers talking about their dogs, who got a new truck, etc. and a few blow-
thru-town bikers. I always seek out the Mom-n-Pop motels and diners when on the road and sometimes
I am overwhelmingly surprised at how great they are.

Later, we stopped at a Subway for lunch (at my brother's insistence) and it was tasteless (a
mouth full of damp paper towels would have tasted near as good) and at almost NINE bucks for
a #@! sandwich, it cost as much as the great breakfast.

I cross the street rather than walk past a Subway...

Yet they usually have a line of blank-stare drones there waiting to pay full retail for
a really dull sandwich !

Meanwhile, the guy with the great food shop across the street is struggling to keep
the lights on !

There are times when I think Americans are the largest group of mindless drones
ever assembled.

Arnie Beswick was a Drag Racer and seems to have done well with the '56 D501 so decided to get a '57 D501 but found it was too front heavy and also destroyed the 3 Speed manual gearboxes when power shifting.

But I can see a bunch of changes here. To my way of thinking, Butte has gone downhill. But there's enough uphills around it to keep it elevated.

the 61 is a pre production car. note how they filmed the Plymouth script at 8:49 close up, stuck to the dash, in one scene.

That's a sad end to a 1957 Dodge 4-door hardtop - presumably a D-500 model too. Any more info on this one?
