Location: Bjorneborg, Finland | The 1st picture is from Helsinki, Finland in the early 60's. The second car on the row, Glas Goggomobil, has nowadays a lot more value than a '60 Plymouth in front of it.. Location: Bjorneborg, Finland | There seems to be some kind of boom in the micro car market in past 3 years, when I checked the American value guide sites . Check out this Hagerty Price Guide Report of '60 Goggo T400! Would it be cool to own both this Plymouth and Goggo? Goggo doesn't need much a garage space. Can't be a shy person, when driving it. The problem is that I'm 6' 5", so how to get in and out of the Goggo..

Expert Posts: 1207 Location: Ponder, TX | In the sixties, there was a racing series for Goggos at several military installations in Europe. One of our guys was seriously into racing them and modified his street car to make it fly. I was with him one night when we were driving far too fast down a switchback road in the Mosel valley. We skidded around one corner and he laid the car on its side. A German couple was parked a hundred yards down the road, and when they saw us wreck they began to run toward us. My friend and I crawled out the driver's door, flipped the car back on its wheels and were rolling before the Germans reached us. Only damage was some scraped paint and a broken "Mox-Nix Stick"...GI slang for the turn signal arm that flipped up out of the B-pillar. Another time, during a winter storm, the car high-centered in a snow drift and got stuck. There were three of us in the car at the time, so we just picked it up and carried it out of the drift. They were very good on gas, and he claimed over 60 mpg on trips around Germany. Edited by GaryS 2014-02-04 8:00 AM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 416 Location: North Central Alberta Canada | Lots of times I come across a picture that is so cool that I want to share but I’m not sure if there are any FL’ers in the pic. If I stare at it long enough I start to see FL’ers that aren’t there or part of a car that could be a finned car. That White one under “The Sands restaurant” sign is one of those maybe's. Expert 5K+ Posts: 7210 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | This photo is strange - the people are obviously in summer dress, standing beside a large snowbank. Yet the road is completely dry. You would think if the weather was warm the road would be wet from the melt.. what???? Expert Posts: 1747 Location: Alaska | This last picture is a perfect example of the lifestyle and mindset of a different generation. If you look closely, you will see just about every car has their windows rolled down. People didn't lock their cars then!!! I notice this because I am married to lockaholic, sometimes she even locks me out of the house! (on purpose?)

Expert Posts: 2309 Location: The Bat Cave, Fairborn, OH | That would be a valid point about the absence of snow melt on the highway. I have no explanation for it however. This photo was probably taken somewhere in the Sierra Nevada mountains I expect as snow that deep is not at all uncommon in the passes and it doesn't even melt much during the summer.

Exner Expert 19,174 posts. Neil passed away 18 Sep 2015. You will be missed, Neil! Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | In the above photo of the family posing by high snow banks, that condition is not unusual in CA, around May-June, in the higher mountain passes. The photo could have been taken around Lake Tahoe. Speaking of lockaholics, my brother-in-law has been known to lock his upper-middle-class home, while my sis is out mowing the yards...dunno what he's so freaked out about. About the only time that mi casa has its front door locked is at night, and when we're out of town....back door is always kept unlocked and cars are not locked, at night, in the driveway....but, keys are kept inside.

Location: Parts Unknown | Locks are great, ..... to a point. Staged defensive positions and coordinated observation (neighbors) are the best plan for "personal safety". The locks are just only stalling point in a staged defense. Slow them down long enough to draw your weapon and be prepared for the next level of defense. Same goes for locking your vehicle. Hopefully, the effort of el Scumbag to break in to the car draws attention enough to attract appropriate defense of said vehicle.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7210 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | d500neil - 2014-02-08 6:36 PM Speaking of lockaholics, my brother-in-law has been known to lock his upper-middle-class home, while my sis is out mowing the yards...dunno what he's so freaked out about. About the only time that mi casa has its front door locked is at night, and when we're out of town....back door is always kept unlocked and cars are not locked, at night, in the driveway....but, keys are kept inside. Most of the single-family-home B&Es around here are not actually B&Es, -it's documented by the local police depts. that typically a thief goes in the unlocked front door while the home owners are out in the backyard enjoying a bbq or mowing the back lawn etc. Happens often here. I keep my doors locked while I'm out mowing the lawn if there is no one else home. However, - I often leave the Saratoga out in the driveway with the windows down on a summer day, and don't worry about it. If you did this in some parts of Vancouver, (on the mainland) the car would be gone in minutes. Stolen cars on the island here are generally stolen only for joy-rides, because they can't get the cars off the island quick enough after they are reported stolen, generally. One thing with newer cars that have transponder keys ( built in immobilizers) - they are much harder to steal. No joyrides, the car must be loaded up and towed if you want to steal it and don't have a key. I do keep a "club" on the steering wheel of the Saratoga if it's parked somewhere else for any length of time, and have thought about installing some kind of immobilizer in it.
