Location: D-70199 Heslach | When motor/transmission is cold, every time I start the car, it leaks a mass of ATF in case I push the "D" pushbutton.
I found out, the ATF comes out of the trans dipstick tube. The transmission is a 3 spd TorqueFlite from a 57 Fireflite.
Any ideas... |

When that's the case, the torque converter slowly empties its ATF into the transmission, causing overfill and spillage.
The cure is to start the engine, and let it idle for less than a minute, every week. |

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | If a transmission pukes out oil - there's always a reason. Even with the drainback from the converter, the transmission will handle this in a blink of an eye. As soon as the engine starts the transmission front pump will fill up the converter very fast.
Even if I leave my car a month without starting the Engine, there will be no transmission fluid puke out. Some transfluid might leak out from the throttle lever seal, but that's "normal". |
