Subject: Oil bath airfilter help

I have a 56 windsor with a 331. I am new to oil bath air filters. I know I'm suppose to run 50wt oil in it but I can not find a fill level on the housing How much oil am I suppose to put in it ?

The owner's manual for my '55 Dodge says one pint (half a quart) and yours is probably the same. Feel free to post some pics of it here....

The 56 Chrysler Factory Service Manual (FSM) does talk about the 50W oil for the oil bath air cleaner in the summer and 20W for the winter. As you know it does not say how much.

Not sure about your 56 Chrysler air cleaner (2 bbl or 4 bbl??) but my 56 Dodge 4 bbl air cleaner has an "OIL LEVEL" indicator stamped into the lower housing.

You are correct, I didn't look in the bowl. Mine is exactly the same. With the oil fill line. Thank you!!!!

I thought that you would find the oil fill line if I pointed you in the correct direction.

Now to decide on the oil weight.
