Please read this thread at The '59 Plymouth web site:

http://59sportfury.net/59forum/viewtopic.php?t=1062

I would like to accompany Bob to the next cruise night to meet the joker who claims that swapping a '62 383 into a '57 flathead six Plymouth is a "bolt-in" operation.

Bob is a good guy, but his friend is a liar. Plain and simple.

Spreading mis-information to pump yourself up is not only childish, but it may cost your friends time and money if they trust your word.

I am adding some pictures to this posting and will ask Dan Morton to refer potential V-8 engine swappers with six cylinder cars to this post so they know what they are getting into.

K.

Yup... that would definitely not fit right. Kinda like a square peg in a round hole, and, well, the bigger sledge hammer don't make this one workie.

Very easy to do, if you have a "flame wrench."

Yep, swap the frame, or car.... there easy engine swap....

Tell them kids that they can bolt in a jet turbine engine.... just get
the adapter plate and it's as easy as 1, 2, 3.....

Years ago my brother & I removed a poly 318 and put a later 413 into his 57 Plaza. We had to cut out the original perches and re-weld in new perches for the big block, along with trans rear mount mods, cut driveline, on and on.

Not bolt in by any means. Even the radiator had to be changed, and a shorter fan blade spacer had to be used. And oh yeah, a really short oil filter.

Mike
