Expert Posts: 3578 Location: Blythewood, SC | Why not change over to mopar electronic? You can grab a distributor out of a junkyard off pretty much anything mid 70's or newer, and an ignition box and resistor from any parts store. I can send you a schematic for the wiring. Or, Pertronix for the distributor you have. Or MSD, which is easy as pie but costs a little more.

Not expensive- no additional ignition box needed, only clue is two wires comeing out of the dist. Works great for 6 years now. There have been some cases of failure so just in case--I keep another dist. in the trunk with new points and condensor installed for a swap just if there is a failure..........................MO

Most of the E/T mags had slots and oblong washers so they would fit big or small bolt patterns. As I recall, you just needed to flip the washer around. Just be sure to check the torque on the lug nuts frequently as they had a habit of loosening. Dave

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8948 Location: WHEELING,WV.>>>HOME OF WWVA | sure Brian , not much parts chasin here . the blades are of unknown ROVER visors i got from england for about 50$ . the arms are from junk 64 and 67 plymouth about 20$ . smoked lexan about 50$ . brass nuts and all thread about 30$ . the only thing is the mounting holes , one doesn't match and door swing out is none , wrong bend on arm but i don't like the swing out anyways , never use it on any car . sooner or later i'll replace the arms with correct bends but for now i think they come out really good and on the cheap as compared to the ultra rare visor option . they are the same width as the option about 6 ins. but about 3 ins. shorter . it took almost a month to get the visors from england , clearing custom ! almost thought i was gettin screwed over the ebay deal but the seller was a really nice guy through the long waite and he stuck with me ! -----------------------------------------------------mounted i think the look way kool . i'm still fitting up parts . i thought i'd pull off the end of last month as a completion date but it's been a bear workin alone on a self imposed dead line . yesterday i fitted the rechromed bumper , now that was a real trip . after straightening and rechrome it fitted up like s**t , took me about 3 1/2 hrs to get it even close and had to make shims . then came the nos reverse lights . one took about 45 mins to install . the other about 5 mins . go figure . all and all it's coming together slowly . at the outside it'll be another 2 wks . then i'll post more photos for sure . ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------later

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8948 Location: WHEELING,WV.>>>HOME OF WWVA | 57 , after all the views of this thread i'd ah thought someone would have jumped in about the wheel size 4.5 . although i'm not sure about the lug spacing changes i do know the ones i got given to me are 4 1/4 a common mopar , ferd spacing and the spacing of 4 1/4 are what is needed for my 60 and you are correct about just flipping over the washers . the flipping will give 4 1/2 a common gm spacing . thus universal lug fitment . ------------------------------------------------------------later

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8948 Location: WHEELING,WV.>>>HOME OF WWVA | i just had a hell of a time with the new backup lights . had to remove the shifter , straighten plug ears on the switch and plug the wires on . all that after i installed a ground to the new rechromed bumper that i painted with por-15 , thought maybe it was too well insulated . must have been messed up before i bought red . the only hassle a may have is the rear spring shackles . the way the inspection laws read , you can't alter the factory stance ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but you have up to 3 inches to raise any vehicle before you have to get an altered vehicle inspection . i doubt they can prove the factory stance . with the old saggy springs i used the 2 inch raise . it has a little rake but not mind boggling . the functional side pipes , i'll be ready for em on that one to . the law states that if the exhaust side exits , it has to be rear of the furthest rear operational side window . the exit ports clear a plumb line by 3/8ths. of an inch . i don't look for any real hassles considering the owner of the shop owns a classic himself . although it is a 66 chevrolet ------------later

Big Lot's or the Dairy \Mart? According to the 17-C Motor Code \Manual. The exhause must exit past the passenger carrying compartment. So, on a ca,r that means the exhaust has to exit beyond where the rear glass meets the body. How many interpert the law that way,,,,,,,? who cares? Run stacks right up outta the hood!
